Already had 70% of all of these blocks in place from other tips. Really handy now that a reputable developer is itemizing everything in a neat little package. Super small, highly transparent software - just the way I like it. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23930358 Anyone advertising like that is a scammer for it is impossible for a subordinate to control his superior, which is what Windows is. Why do you think all the antiviruses require booting from a rescue disk. Because otherwise Windows/Virus just tells them "i do not send anything, now bug off". |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71115048 Do you really believe that somebody would give you software for free? This is not a scam. SpyBot has been providing free malware/virus removal and prevention software for almost 20 years. It has proven itself over and over and over again. Any PC tech worth his/her salt has a copy of it in their collection of software utilities. Beyond that, however, there is a philosophy followed by a growing number of people that computer software should be free for all to use. Research "Free Software Foundation" and the "Open Source Initiative." Also look into the Linux operating system, which has been around even longer than SpyBot has. Chances are pretty good that I have been repairing computers for longer than you've been alive, so I do have some knowledge and experience on the subject. The laptop from which I'm posting has absolutely nothing on it but free open source software and I guarantee you it's more secure than whatever system you're posting from. There's no way to stop that unfortunately... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70106688 There is, but it requires a firewall between the Windows system and the outside world. All of the corporate networks I administrate have every known Microsoft domain and IP address blocked within the network firewall. Windows can phone home as much as it wants; the traffic never leaves the internal network. This little prog hoovered up several holes I thought I'd managed to plug. Now I've got my win10 working more or less as win7.(With the great addition of www.classicshell.net. Highly recommended. Gets rid of all the useless win10 glossy UI shit.) Win10 is totally inexcusable. I won't be buying another device with an MS o/s if MS doesn't stop this unlawful extremely intrusive behavior. And, Riff-Raff, you're 100% right - SpyBot is a completely trustworthy outfit, been using it for many years. Now we need CCleaner to come out and help zap all those win10 call-home dlls. |

I have Comodo blocking every MS connection I can see, but I'm sure there are furtive little MS buggers that can still get through. |
