CHINA IS NOW BUILDING FLOATING NUCLEAR FUCKING POWER PLANTS.....that should a little more drama to the next tsunami

Being afloat at sea is safer than on the ground. If you're on a ship, you can hardly feel a tsunami that will wreck havoc on the beach. As the water gets shallower near the beach, the wave picks up both speed and height. Out in the sea, it's almost undetectable.

Whatever. It's simple physics and corroborated by experience. Out in the sea, the tsunami doesn't appear as a giant wave of water. It grows bigger as it nears the beach.

We've had floating nuclear power plants for decades. Pretty safe track record.

In a lot some ways it's safer than one built on land, but we arguing about dangerous technology whether it's on land or sea. The truth is, we shouldn't be building nuclear power plants regardless. The potential downside far out weighs the upside. Especially, given the technology that now exists both publicly and privately.

Wait till they put Solar Panels on top of the floating nuke plant and call it Green Technology....

This would minimize the threat of a tsunami, this is true. However,there are still alot of other things that could go wrong for a floating nuke plant.

Typhoons/Hurricanes would be one of my biggest concerns.

they're not idiots either... they're not going to toss a 5 year on as a captain plus they will have state of the art nav systems and they live in tsunami land , they know a bit more via experience... stop being such a blind hater.

Except those are not floating nuclear power plants, nuclear power is just a small part of what they do.

Building a single purpose floating nuclear power plant, to my mind means a much larger reactor generating more electricity. So its on a scale nobody has tried before... A miniaturized reactor is one thing, but a full scale power plant on a ship, sounds more dangerous than ever, especially as its made in China.

On the other hand a nuclear reactor on water is safer. If the shit hits the fan the fuel rods would burn their way into the open sea. So there would be cooling. The shit wouldn't explode and water is extremely good in spreading pollution - hotspots of radioactivity are more unlikely (Fukushima will show us if that is really true).

I guess no different then any of the nuclear air craft carriers, subs or other vessels floating around in the ocean.
If they can move it out of harms way in a emergency then what could go wrong. China engineering and work
quality is always top notched!
