When, in all actuality, it should say: 45% of Americans are so poor, they couldn't afford to pay an income tax if they had to.

Think about that for a second.

Determining what is "fair" is tricky business. Selfish people make selfish decisions. Those that have less think it is unfair that some have more. When you look to the government (a selfish group of people given authority over others) to determine and enforce fairness that doesn't solve the problem as they only seek to maximize the fairness for those who are the most beneficial to them.

Over the last five years our household income has doubled and in doing so we pay a shit ton of income taxes. Not only that but we live in a metro area that is in 2 states. We both work in the opposite state we live in, therefore always owe both states taxes. Now that we have both returned to college we are actually able to get a decent federal refund. It has been many upon many years that I have ever received such a refund back, and it is only in part for going back to spend more money on college. So when people cry wolf about the rich or 1% paying little to no tax, fuck em because they do not know how the tax system works. The loopholes for the rich (or anyone with some money) are good because we pay such a high amount of income tax to where they somewhat make up for the huge tax amounts on income. I do agree corporations should have the loopholes closed down or made to be less obvious to where they pay more.

Sorry for the wall of text, but these people who want to feel the Bern are complete idiots because they don't truely know how the tax system works. I sure as hell do not want to pay more fucking taxes that the government won't spend wisely on.

I believe that is mainly the result of an unemployment rate of over 30%. If there were jobs, there would be more taxes. We have well reached that point in time when high taxes have killed the Golden American Goose that laid the Golden Eggs. I've known this time was coming for years.

Trump will have to make some drastic changes to our government banking/tax system if he wants to create jobs. The Dumbass that is sitting in the Oval Office with his dirty shoes up on the antique desk, left the economy to the Fed, the very people that had destroyed our economy. I told you right here on GLP that our economy would never get better under obama, because of that. And it hasn't.

PLUS : the social warfare (500€/month) they live upon are not chargeable, so they happen to have 0€ as an official income and with that result they have free doctors, medecines, hospital, a part of their rent paid by taxes, low price on energy, etc...

If you guys were smart enough there are more than enough loop holes and breaks in the Tax code to shelter your entire income and pay 0 taxes, that does not mean you get to put the money in the bank, but you get to at least get to choose how you spend it, versus just handing it to Jamal's baby momma.

People with a lot of income invest a good amount of time and effort into NOT paying a direct tax on their income.

Realtors, Sales people, waiters... none of these people should ever PAY an income tax, there are plenty of ways to write it off and use the money else where, LEGALLY. That is what it's really about, getting to choose where I put that 30% of my income the govt would otherwise extract from me so irresponsible people can keep procreating.

The first 25K of SS is tax free. I don't get that much, so I pay no income taxes. Why work except for any useful social interaction, and you can go to a university or shopping mall for that.

The other 55% are morans. Why pay the government for something they could produce on their own? Just so the banks can skim off 6-8%?
