What do you all think of The Secret?

Hey OP...from my experience...

The Secret was like a stepping stone that lead me to Abraham and Esther Hicks.

I loved the Secret when it first became popular and it has really helped my point of attraction and my attitude...but I have to say the Abraham/Esther video's are really something that hits home with me.

I've had some amazing experiences, and continue to have them, when I get in a zone of allowing Source to lead the way, and keeping my moods, thoughts and beliefs in a positive vibe.

Esther Hicks is the one that spearheaded The Secret in the first place, but was edited out of the final version because the publishers didn't like the sound of exactly 'where' the secret/ law of attraction came from.

And, if you really get into it, check out the books of Seth, by Jane Roberts. You can listen to them on youtube.

I suggest The Eternal Validity of the Soul. Totally mind blowing and awesome!

If you decide to check it out, listen to the video's where Jane Roberts is NOT speaking it...a real turn off for me...But there are several videos where it's being read by someone else, or by a speech recognition program, that actually is the best, IMO, once you get into the groove of listening to it.

In any case, you are gonna find all kinds of people that will say it's stupid and 'nothing to it'...but I totally have to disagree. And besides, it's YOUR Reality that you have control over, no one else's. Why not make it the Best reality you can? Change your beliefs and take charge of your emotional state at all times...Have a 'high vibration' is what it's all about!

There is ALOT to it, and from what I can see, it lines up pretty darn good with quantum physics and a lot of science and theories about consciousness and the multidimensional makeup of all living things.

The secret taps into quantum mechanics.

I read the book when it first came out and applied it to my life. It also led me down a path of quantum physics.

Basically what it teaches you (if you go deep enough) is not that you can pluck something from reality, but that reality is a manifestation of your mind set. So yes absolutely it works. We all create our own realities moment by moment.

My criticism is that the secret is catered to women who want material things.

It should expound more on achieving peace, grace, morality, and health as well as success.

It focuses on material things because that is what is important to most people. It is what attracts them to the film in the first place. Then people can go from there and get deeper if that is what they need/want.

It's a load of bullshit, that's what it is.

No, it isn't. We attract who we are. Good and bad. It takes really getting to know who we are and fixing what we don't like. The subconscious mind plays a huge part.

I had an experience once where I needed a pen

Though I'm sure some of these people are sincere, it's largely a group of con men (& women) and one convicted murderer trying to get your money.

Anyone who claims to have a "new" path to enlightenment or some "secret" that will save your soul is like a thief who picks your pocket and then tries to sell you your own watch.

The "secret" is within you already.

Very good, concise article. Also, research Secret speakers Joe Vitale and Mr. Proctor, both accomplished scam artists ( and both very wealthy).

Here is an interesting thread about manifesting things. OP posts a helpful video that helps to bypass the subconscious mind. It takes no time at all and is free. The Wallace Wattles book that someone mentioned is good to read as well. We are such powerful beings but many people think we have no control about what happens to us.

I was shopping last night and looked at some shoes I wanted but didn't want to spend the money for them. Didn't really need them. Anyway, went to Goodwill and my friend brought some shoes over to me she thought I would like. They were just like the ones I was looking at no more than an hour before. She didn't know that I wanted something like that. They fit, were hardly worn and cost 4 bucks. This happens to people all the time but they don't know that they really attracted it and it wasn't some random event. Now, I didn't make it happen. It just happened because I aligned with it.

the secret is close but not right on target

it's not the intention you put out for yourself, it's the intention others have towards you that is the most powerful force, your intention for yourself is like a trickle of water compared to a firehose of someone else's intention towards you.

so the trick is make other people have those intentions towards you that you want for yourself

Its just obvious positive thinking, being proactive in what you want kinda thing, however, if your desires are non-moderate materialistically, your 'caught' into becoming a major controller yourself (!). If you 'engineer' your 'profitable' future.

The Secret definitely is too materialistic but they touch on some good points. Google Melody Fletcher. She is really good, has a blog and YouTube vids.

I still struggle though. I can manifest a parking space or a pair of pants, but not the big stuff. Yet.

It is always good to start off small because our subconscious will get in the way if we start with something too huge for us. Doubt gets in the way as well.

My advice:
Avoid the Secret. In fact dump it in the nearest bin.
Why?
The Secret was written to make money. The author was into producing tv shows and she was on track when it came to hooking the mass market.
Since she wrote that book parallel research has led to startling discoveries. In a nutshell this is it, The more you visualize that you have already achieved your wish, the more the manufesting engine in your mind goes to sleep. Meaning it assumes you already achieved it and will not bring that wish into your life. Most people who tell you that they manifested this or that are liars.

The Secret is very dangerous to you achieving anything.

Say you haven't read it, but someone else has and believes the stuff in it. Can they somehow have an enigmatic...idk...force for lack of a better word, that draws you to them?

More likely a demon.

There's a trick to it, you can't WANT the stuff bc that comes from a place of lack. You have to resonate at the same frequency to attract, so you have to energetically give off the vibe you already have it.
