Chile is still getting hammered
I don't remember seeing this after an EQ. I know Peru had quite a few aftershocks but this is insane.

Check it out

Fox News said it would hit California at around 3 am Thursday. What time would that be Eastern Standard?

It's not as bad as it looks because RSOE lists one quake multiple times, usually twice or more.
ESMC is the European network that lists quake data from the USGS network and RSOE lists both USGS and ESMC quakes so you get duplicates. Remove half of those aftershocks and you will get the real picture.

Hey Holly!

Yeah, the Chile quakes are off-the-charts.
I don't think we are going to see this settle down
for a long time.

Thanks for the "heads-up"

The center estimated that the effects from the tsunami would arrive in Hawaii about 3 a.m. (6 a.m. PDT) Thursday.

A similar advisory was issued for southern and central California.

That advisory affects about 300 miles of coastline stretching from the southern end of Orange County to most of San Luis Obispo County on the central coast.

The possible changes associated with the advisory are expected to hit first in the south at about 4:45 a.m. PDT Thursday and move north in the minutes that follow.

Hi OC. They are nuts and I know RSOE sometimes has doubles but they remove them eventually. I know I watched it after Peru had the big quake and theirs were doubled too. It still looked nothing like this.

Thank OC!

There's a 3 hour difference with Cali being 3 hours earlier. Is that what you were asking? It's late and I'm delirious.

This is from a hour ago.

The US' National Tsunami Warning Center has issued an alert for several miles along the western state's coast line, running from San Onofre in San Clemente - about 55 miles north of San Diego - to Ragged Point, which is about 50 miles north of San Luis Obispo.

The tsunami is expected to hit between 4:46am local time, travelling down to LA within one minute. It will then travel down to Santa Barbara by 5:06am and reach Port San Luis just four minutes later. The warning zone in California (Source: National Tsunami Warning Center)

However weather forecasters are not predicting that the tsunami will be severe, and a "widespread inundation of land is not expected".

Re: Chile is still getting hammered
One million people have been evacuated in Chile after a powerful earthquake hit the country's central region.

At least five people died when the 8.3-magnitude quake hit at 19:54 local time (22:54 GMT).

A tsunami alert was originally issued for the entire Chilean coast but has been partly lifted since.

Chile's deputy interior minister said it was the sixth most powerful quake to hit the country. Seismologists have reported dozens of aftershocks.
