Strange Civic Recognition Awards given randomly, anonymously, & unceremoniously to people. Who's doing it?
I only found out about this because someone called me and said someone I knew (past tense because they have passed) received a Civic Recognition Award "last Monday" (they all seem to say "last Monday".

And the site looks official. And then I put in this to find out these awards are being given out of Arizona by a GoDaddy site. And MANY people have gotten them and probably don't even know about it! And they don't deserve it probably--well, probably. lol

But why are they getting them? And by whom? And why? It's apparently a scam (but don't tell those who have bragged about it to the local news, papers, or on their Freakbooks)!

This lady is "Gobsmacked!" she won, so she contacted the local paper, here:

[link to patch.com]

Here's her award:

[link to civicrecognition-20.org]

But there are many awards randomly give out.

If you put this address and change the number, you get all different awards given to various people from all over. But why?

civicrecognition-1.org
civicrecognition-2.org
etc…….

Hope it doesn't cause problems for the recipients in any way!
But who's doing it? And why? So weird!

Well then, A.C. .I guess you really haven't said anything. You toss words across the internet like your sowing grass seeds.onto the bare patches on your lawn. So if your going to make statements or head line a question in news flash fashion .And Im not criticizing you.Well yes I am LOL.At least put in an effort to answer the question for your own knowlage base. But what I want ask don't you think your friend whom has passed. God bless his lifes contribution.. Is probably undeserving of a any acknowlagement.Im of mind to be more inclined to believe the true question you whish to know is .Why you didn't get one? The answer to that is hidden in your blog. And the answer to that is. Just incase you still try to fool yourself. Is your not deserving of the award. Probably LOL.I hope knowing the truth now will help you because we would love to see your name on one of these awards.Yours truly Trazoidsperf.

Random names are being pulled. I was trying to find a connection, but I don't know how to get it.

The person who got the award (that I mentioned) was:

A female.

Born on September 23.

The award site is not tied to anyone organization, it's as if by some formula,
people are randomly picked.

But why? Is it some kind of group of people who are at security risk (finances, identity, etc)? But why for a dead person….

You are right. VERY WEIRD!

I think, as more and more people get or find out others got this weird reward from out of the blue, when searched, they will find this thread.

Because they won't know who or why they received this random recognition--and that is terrifying when you don't know who has been doing it or for why.

Creepy.

You are basing this from a base of ego, of which I do not stand.

This is a security concern. Not a pageant. Grow up.

I got one of these awards....for a state I no longer live in. (Supports random data pull theory?) Also, I have a pretty uncommon last name and I know I'm the only one in my home town. Very odd...

Not sharing it b/c....wtf is it? Will update if anything comes of it...

Will check back for any answers!

Yes, I got one, what a shock as I'm not deserving (but like it), lol. My daughter got one as well and she is in another state. Spent much time trying to figure out (to no avail). It's a riot that people actually believe it's real and they are gloating and blogging about it. Would love updates if more info is found. Thx!

When you look at page source it is connected to Google ads, so they must get paid per click. Haha, some guy is boasting about it on his Linkedin page.

following is comment to his boasting:

"You do understand this is a scam site, correct? You didn't actually win an award anymore than I did, or hundreds of thousands of other victims out there. The minute you request removal, the administrator blocks you from further seeing activity on their site. Report them!"

Re: Strange Civic Recognition Awards given randomly, anonymously, & unceremoniously to people. Who's doing it?
Does anyone know what this is specifically about? When querying my name, I received one of these too. I also have another mention/link, separate from the civic reward, stating I'm a "notable person." What is the purpose of this? If it's a scam, how are they scamming me?

Thanks for any info.

It's a simple marketing ploy that gets you to accidentally click the ads.

You can search all sites with the same adsense/analytics id.

This one is some middle east guy with a canadian adsense account. Probably several.

It was a good idea actually...
