OK coffee tards let me break it down for your comprehension.

If you are concerned about caffeine load, then go for a dark roast or espresso.

Coffee has got to be the biggest nastiest trick on the planet... I was addicted like a crack addict, I have finally got off the shit... I had a headache for 4 days, worse than any come down I have ever had... and felt like shit...

I think its all out my system, and my brain and body feel so much lighter and clearer...

We need to get rid of that poison...

damn...

Absolutely spot on, it's poison, stomach and skin problems, horrible rebound migraines, etc. Not worth it.

On average, I drink a gallon of coffee a day. Can go days without drinking it. Get no "pep" sideeffects, nervousness, or anything, ever.

Straight black. just water and coffee. Doc says drink lots of water... I drink lots of coffee.

Caffeine isn't the healthiest substance in the world, however, coffee does have a number of health benefits. Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Diabetes, etc...

It's packed with anti-oxidants, and on average coffee drinkers live longer than non.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68701068

Must admit I'd like to stop drinking so much coffee. But tbh, although I drink it non-stop all day, I've hardly had a day's illness in my life - haven't been to a doctor in many years..
 Quoting: Tess.

Same here. At least 12 cups a day and aside from a sinus infection 7 years ago, no docs.

Caffeine is a drug like heroin and cocaine and amphetamine. But hopeless addicts would never admit to that because paid for studies by the coffee industry told them their addiction was justified.

Caffeine: A vitamin-like nutrient, or adaptogen

Questions about tea and coffee, cancer and other degenerative diseases, and the hormones.

There is a popular health-culture that circulates mistaken ideas about nutrition, and coffee drinking has been a perennial target of this culture. It is commonly said that coffee is a drug, not a food, and that its drug action is harmful, and that this harm is not compensated by any nutritional benefit. Most physicians subscribe to most of these “common sense” ideas about coffee, and form an authoritative barrier against the assimilation of scientific information about coffee.

I think it would be good to reconsider coffee’s place in the diet and in health care.

Coffee drinkers have a lower incidence of thyroid disease, including cancer, thannon-drinkers.

Caffeine protects the liver from alcohol and acetaminophen (Tylenol) and other toxins, and coffee drinkers are less likely than people who don’t use coffee to have elevated serum enzymes and other indications of liver damage.

Caffeine protects against cancer caused by radiation, chemical carcinogens, viruses, and estrogens.

Caffeine synergizes with progesterone, and increases its concentration in blood and tissues.

Cystic breast disease is not caused by caffeine, in fact caffeine’s effects are likely to be protective; a variety of studies show that coffee, tea, and caffeine are protective against breast cancer.

Coffee provides very significant quantities of magnesium, as well as other nutrients including vitamin B1.

Caffeine “improves efficiency of fuel use” and performance: JC Wagner 1989.

Coffee drinkers have a low incidence of suicide.

Caffeine supports serotonin uptake in nerves, and inhibits blood platelet aggregation.

Coffee drinkers have been found to have lower cadmium in tissues; coffee making removes heavy metals from water.

Coffee inhibits iron absorption if taken with meals, helping to prevent iron overload.

Caffeine, like niacin, inhibits apoptosis, protecting against stress-induced cell death, without interfering with normal cell turnover.

Caffeine can prevent nerve cell death.

Coffee (or caffeine) prevents Parkinson’s Disease (Ross, et al., 2000).

The prenatal growth retardation that can be caused by feeding large amounts of caffeine is prevented by supplementing the diet with sugar.

Caffeine stops production of free radicals by inhibiting xanthine oxidase, an important factor in tissue stress.

Caffeine lowers serum potassium following exercise; stabilizes platelets, reducing thromboxane production.A R T

I think if I did not have it.

I would be asleep 24/7.

Ultimately, I will transcend it.

But, No way I'm going to sleep all the time.

Yes, I do feel the "impatience" emotion come from it.

But I also find that same emotion can be a strength, or a motivation.

I keep coffee at arms length away from me. I came to the same conclusion. A product that gives the worst headaches you ever had besides an injury. And not to mention the shakes and the hyper temper.

I keep coffee for an emergency. Also is a product that makes you need it or your day is next to shot. So seldom drink it now and that's 30 years. Many other ways to enjoy the day.

Yerba Mate

Has a "buzz" similar to caffeine sans the comedown.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 46714411

I tried that stuff for a year instead of coffee. Dangerous drug. I had a car accident and a bike accident that year.

I think it causes problems with eye-hand coordination and spatial awareness like a mild hallucinogen. It has caffeine along with other xanthines and it's linked to cancer.

It definitely affected my driving in a bad way, even though the car accident wasn't my fault.

all things in MODERATION ...

yeah, I was an addict too - until I found myself sprinting to the bathroom after I wet my pants ...

I went cold turkey and weaned myself entirely off of caffeine but then I found myself taking naps - wasting large chunks of precious time, without the motivating and necessary minerals that that coffee contributed to my energy production.

so after a gentle detox of my liver and kidneys, that took a month to complete, I find that I can drink coffee (once a day before lunch) for that energy boost that gets me through the day - without to pissing my pants ... and I appreciate how it stimulates my digestive system to empty it's contents and curb my appetite

different strokes ... but I really missed coffee and love having it back in my life - in moderation

I was in a fog for an entire year after the last time I quit coffee.

After that it cleared up and I went on with life.

I have even read somewhere recently coffee can help if you are down with COVID-19.
Not that surprising really as it is well packed with anti-oxidants. Quercetin is an anti-oxidant, and it is considered by many people to be protecting against the coronavirus.

Caffeine is a shit chemical and you will be glad if you ever get the chance to get off it for say 1 month. You will feel like a god with super human emotions and nothing can put you down.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 61256299

hesright

Messes you up, in a way, even worse than amphetamine.

That headache for days, is worse than being tired as hell from amphetamine.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 67552933

Truth. It's a shame so few people will admit to it. It's the ideal control mechanism for the elite. People take a vacation from work and immediately put the coffee down hmm i wonder why? oh yea because it's a fucking working class drug is what this shit is.

The elite know it's not good. It was btw originally tested on slaves in France and they became more motivated to do their slavery then before and eventually became addicted and ofcourse followed the denial that it was any bad.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 61256299

That's exactly what happened to me. No.coffee on vacation and inspect for 13 hours the first 3 days and still felt exhausted. Felt better by about the 3rd day.
