The layoffs are accelerating out here in the oil patch...

Another 2 months of this and N. Dakota will be a ghost State...
 Quoting: Saddletramp

So not much will change except for north Dakota?

How is lower oil prices not going to boost the economy?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 7392265

Actually it is PA, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, North Dakota, Texas, Mississippi, and more.

Low oil prices = low gas prices, which you are being told will boost the economy.

Yet, already the gas tax increase is being talked about, and being pushed on all media outlets.

So guess what they are fixen to do.

Liberal people are really eat up with fucking stupid.

And that's a whole other topic for discussion.

Re: THINK COLLAPSE IS A JOKE? Take a look what plummeting oil $$ is doing to Venezuela!
There is absolutely no reason this oil war or plummeting price will hurt the USA in the same way as Venezuela. In fact it will have the opposite effect for the majority of the USA other than in localities where oil and fuel is the main industry.

Low oil and fuel cost mean less cost for everything from harvesting, processing, manufacturing, delivery and more and more disposable income for the consumers of America as well. The average consumer in America who works and commutes a average of 30 miles a day to work and home now has between $50-100 more a month to spend and in a 2 income household $100-200 or more. Doesn't sound like a lot til you multiply it by a 10's of millions of workers.

This also allows the price of the goods and services we pay for to be reduced and money will dictate that through competition.

Venezuelans economy depends on oil export. Ours does not.

Having said that, we the people of the USA need to start rejecting cheap and inferior goods from china and some other countries who do not have mutual best interests in mind and begin becoming the manufacturing powerhouse the USA once was again that built the middle class's.

Unfortunately, that brings us farther away from the globalist agenda and thus will not happen.

Well how bout that, we have a couple things in common...

But my experience is 10 years as an Executive VP in charge of lending for a large regional bank in Texas, I was also a bank officer and a board member...
 Quoting: Saddletramp

So in other words, you've been a part of the problem over the last 10+ years. That explains a lot.

And yeah, the minimum wage increases over the last ten years have more than offset the savings manufacturing will receive from energy price reductions.

The ONLY way the USA competes in the Globalized scheme of things with China and Singapore is if you lower wages (which has been consistently happening) and I mean dramatically...

You say your in manufacturing, then you know damn well your highest cost is in employee's wages and benefits...
 Quoting: Saddletramp

NOPE.
It's only one and it gets outdone both directly and in directly by my energy costs. Sorry.

My circumstance may be slightly unusual, but not uncommon for a true manufacturer. Employee costs (compiled), Material costs and ENERGY costs are my top 3. When energy costs are high, it's my number one expense because my material and shipping costs go up with it.

Any one goes up, someone losses their job. Any one goes down, jobs get created.

When my energy costs decrease by a dollar a unit, I can hire more workers, sell products cheaper, and I keep jobs from being taken by Chinese companies. Something I've dealt with many times.

Fortunately for me, I can compete because my customers need a quality product, something they have a hard time getting from China. Are they cheaper? You bet. Are they better? Hell no.
 Quoting: The Rock... 1444309

Well I hope your business thrives...but I doubt you employ the 35 Million Plus that the energy industry does, and hopefully your not selling your product to any of those people who get laid off because of this.

Will some thrive, yeah probably, will the country thrive because of this...not a fucking chance in hell...

What a fight ladies and gentleman.....this reporter hasn't seen this since the Thriller in Manila....this match up between by Saddletramp and the Rock is turning out to be a ferocious punch ,counterpunch smorgasbord of absolute unabashed economic verbiage that not even the great Adam Smith in his prime could have withstood. How the judges are scoring this match no one knows and this looks like this will go down to a decision at the final bell as no contender has yet to score a knockdown.

And for our audience out there just a reminder that this match is brought to you by Gillette Razors for that clean close shave, Budweiser, the King of Beers and Exxon/Mobile.

There's the bell....back to the action!

Shit it was a knock out in the first round if you know anything about national or world economics, I have no doubt the lower energy cost will help "The Rock" with his manufacturing expenses...but he might want to look at who's buying his product...
 Quoting: Saddletramp

Once again he proclaims his own victory with a hearty self pat on the back.

A sure sign of a loss.

I'm in Agriculture, it will help my expenses too, but now we're looking at a drop in demand for beef, even the All Natural Grass Fed beef I produce which is a niche item...
 Quoting: Saddletramp

There's that selfish interest again as the plot thickens. Because beef being at all time high prices is GOOD FOR AMERICANS!

Right?

Yeah it may lower costs for manufacturers, but if they're products start sitting on the shelves they'll have to lower the price they charge for their goods...

Think about the manufacturing of oil field chemicals, pump jacks, drilling equipment, etc, etc...yes their expenses will be much lower, but who's going to buy their products now?!?!?
 Quoting: Saddletramp

Manufacturers like myself do not put product on shelves.

And here's an irony... If the cost of beef did go down and the average consumer has that extra 100 per month to spend buying steaks and hamburger, the cattle ranchers will sell more and my business will sell more to morons like ranchers that think high energy prices are a good thing for americans. LOL.

The irony being, you buy, indirectly, my product installed on equipment I'd bet my life on you using... HAHAHA!!!

You are happy energy is down, cause it is good for you.

So your cost to ship is down. And you think they are going to just not take advantage of this.

They will adjust tax to cover the loss of the energy sector.

So you little day in the light is going to get big fuck you rain soon by uncle sam.

In the meantime, the only sector creating jobs is destroyed.

When the boom kicked off in North Dakota, the word got out. People from the east lived in tents, in Winter finding work. It took a few years for living quarters to catch up with the influx and jobs. All those people were going back home to the east and spending that money that didnt exist due to 2008-2009.

Most are still working there, and that is fixen to die.

The other states are also suffering already. Mississippi and east texas shell found is on hold. = No jobs

North Dakota losing jobs daily = no money going east. Tons of Manufacturing in the east cratered. Manufacturing and logistics going to North Dakota.

Texas multiple areas fucked. West, south, north and east.

Pa, Ohio even though mainly gas--down.

Colorado going down.

Wyoming east will be the last to go, because new/old field but can produce and make money off lower oil prices. But if oil keeps falling they will shutdown.

Most people down understand all the jobs and money this provides and that it was the only thing that kept us going after last crash.

There are NO OTHER JOBS out there. Period.
When Yankee liberal fucks start coming to the oilfield for work, it is bad.

So all this manufacturing good you claim is mostly gone to china and other countries. There are very little jobs left in this sector. Most of the ones left = manufacturing for energy sector. Plus what started this rant. They will raise taxes to cover and it will put you back in the same boat on energy cost. EXCEPT

That's an interesting way of looking at it. I can agree with the econ 101 supply and demand model, but calling it a selfish interest is subjective.

ALL entrepreneurs have a selfish interest to get ahead and make their own living.

By your own admission you fall into the same group.

Currently you're getting the benefit of both seeing as how from about 2010 to today the cost for live cattle nearly doubled and I would bet the price will not fall nearly as fast and the offset but meanwhile the disposable income of the US Population will allow them to afford more steaks and hamburgers raising the demand for your product and slowing the fall in price ... Sounds like a win win to me.

I'm one manufacturer. There are 1000's more.

Let's see how well that prediction holds out. We'll give it til july to be fair, LOL.

I would think you, a manufacturer, would know that all Capitalism is selfish interest in the form of a supply and demand model...
 Quoting: Saddletramp

That's an interesting way of looking at it. I can agree with the econ 101 supply and demand model, but calling it a selfish interest is subjective.

ALL entrepreneurs have a selfish interest to get ahead and make their own living.

By your own admission you fall into the same group.

Wonderful for you that you can produce your product at a lower cost, but how will the overall economy of the largest manufacturing segment (and related service industries) effect your demand?!?!?

Might look good until those orders dry up...
 Quoting: Saddletramp

How will it look if they increase and I provide more jobs? Because currently that's where we're headed.

I was saying the price of beef was getting too high to support the demand level it had, which means prices will drop, will the savings I get in expenses due to lower energy costs offset the drop in the price for my product to due lower demand?!?!?

We don't know until we find the supply and demand equilibrium...
 Quoting: Saddletramp

Currently you're getting the benefit of both seeing as how from about 2010 to today the cost for live cattle nearly doubled and I would bet the price will not fall nearly as fast and the offset but meanwhile the disposable income of the US Population will allow them to afford more steaks and hamburgers raising the demand for your product and slowing the fall in price ... Sounds like a win win to me.
 Quoting: The Rock... 1444309

In the short term yes, but it's harder to rebuild demand that it is to lose it. Ranchers are currently trying to expand herds as the weather conditions allow, it can go from Boom to bust pretty quickly in the scheme of things, though in a field like ranching herd growth is slow, however I also have major investments in land, livestock, and equipment, so if it all goes bust in five years what happens to the value of those when the good times are gone...

See you have to look past the end of your nose Rock, it's not all about you...

Well I hope your business thrives...but I doubt you employ the 35 Million Plus that the energy industry does, and hopefully your not selling your product to any of those people who get laid off because of this.

Will some thrive, yeah probably, will the country thrive because of this...not a fucking chance in hell...
 Quoting: Saddletramp

Once again Chicken Little The Banker/Rancher has the sky falling because 35 million jobs will be lost... lol.

For every one job lost in the energy sector, 5 can be created with affordable energy in manufacturing and service. So long as the Gov stays out of the way.

Having said that, how many of those 35million jobs will be lost at $40 per barrel oil.

Let's see how honest you are.
 Quoting: The Rock... 1444309

Between the shale oil boom going bust, related oil field service industries going bust, I would say you could see anywhere from 2 to 3 million jobs lost in a quarter or two, more if the price continues in the sub $50 dollar level in the second half of the year.

You will see a marked decrease in growth hiring as well, credit expansion and tax revenue as well, how many jobs will be lost because of that will be pretty much impossible to say but it will happen...

You gonna hire them all Rock, or do they just have to wait a year or two for USA's manufacturing infrastructure to magically rebuild itself?!?!?

Actually it's a conservative prediction, there have been upwards of 7 million new hires in the Shale Oil and Natural Gas business and service related industries alone over the last three years...how many retail and service jobs have sprung up in states like N. Dakota, and Colorado because of that boom, how many manufacturing jobs are devoted to that particular industry?!?!?

How much of that 75% of that new business credit expansion over the last three years is devoted to that industry?!?!? How much of that tax revenue will States and Counties lose because of a 50% decrease in one quarter?!?!?

Look past the end of your nose Rock, see the future...

Iam soooo tired of hearing them crying the blues, ever since there governments sold off all, their natural resources, just like weare presently doing and havebeen doing for some time now.

Soooooo, take notes ->->->

"detergent" isnot what they want anyway. A potscraper, good degreaser, and hot water is what you deed (most of dish-washing is about getting off the grease anyway; especially on plastic stuff).

"diapers" out. What you really need is a good ""extra" absorbent" (soft as possible) paper towels. And or keep infant on stomach with puppy pads underneath, and this will prevent diaper rash etc, and much easier to keep baby dry. Just remember to periodically turn baby's head from side to side . . . and to pick up baby, hold and arm-rock baby often.

I said 2010 through 2014 and I said related service industries, and the stats I site are from the Production Royalty Owners Association, and how much of that increase in retail and service has been in boom states like Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Wyoming, S. Dakota, and N. Dakota, how much of all of those category's is due to Booms in those states because of energy prices? How much of Government Employment (the biggest hirer) is due to increases in tax revenue over the last 3 to 4 years because of the oil boom?!?!?

It's all connected, just like we're connected to the world now...don't expect the shelled out and sold off manufacturing sector of the US Economy to magically rebuild itself in a short time, and trading good paying job for a temporary bump in minimum and low wage retail and service industry jobs to make up for that, it won't...

No it's not a joke.

What it is, is a planned attack by the New World Order to further their goal of world domination. These people are not stupid. America's great depression in the 1930s was just such an attack. It worked then and it's working now.
