Of design he created thus; his own waste providing his own food, and all that he did or suffered taking place in and by himself. For the Creator conceived that a being which was self-sufficient would be far more excellent than one which lacked anything; and, as he had no need to take anything or defend himself against any one, the Creator did not think it necessary to bestow upon him hands: nor had he any need of feet, nor of the whole apparatus of walking; but the movement suited to his spherical form which was designed by him, being of all the seven that which is most appropriate to mind and intelligence; and he was made to move in the same manner and on the same spot, within his own limits revolving in a circle. All the other six motions were taken away from him, and he was made not to partake of their deviations. And as this circular movement required no feet, the universe was created without legs and without feet.” -Plato |

Quoting: Disembodied~Mind An eight week study conducted by Harvard researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) determined that meditation literally rebuilds the brains grey matter in just eight weeks. It’s the very first study to document that meditation produces changes over time in the brain’s grey matter. (1) “Although the practice of meditation is associated with a sense of peacefulness and physical relaxation, practitioners have long claimed that meditation also provides cognitive and psychological benefits that persist throughout the day. This study demonstrates that changes in brain structure may underlie some of these reported improvements and that people are not just feeling better because they are spending time relaxing.” – (1) Sara Lazar of the MGH Psychiatric Neuroimaging Research Program and a Harvard Medical School Instructor in Psychology The study involved taking magnetic resonance images (MRI) of the brain’s of 16 study participants two weeks prior to participating in the study. MRI images of the participants were also taken after the study was completed. [50% rule] [link to www.collective-evolution.com] One wonders if she is related to Bob Lazar. |

He was just asking a question and you jump to the conclusion he is an atheist just because he "challenged" your fate. The interesting thing is that there's one practice that every religion and belief system has agreed on it's beneficial to the self, that's meditation. There's a bible verse that says that to find the saviour you must look within, can you help me find it? Maybe we can agree that the being that you call "God" is someone or something that can be reached successfully when you are truly seeking for guidance in your life? It doesn't matter if you label yourself with "X" religion, the "Universe" will answer your questions if you ask. “The living being had no need of eyes because there was nothing outside of him to be seen; nor of ears because there was nothing to be heard; and there was no surrounding atmosphere to be breathed; nor would there have been any use of organs by the help of which he might receive his food or get rid of what he had already digested, since there was nothing which went from him or came into him: for there was nothing beside him. I think this is something that all of us who do this kind of know is happening. It is just a very, very healing thing. BTW did I miss the pictures because I'm on mobile? Hmmm thats a good question. Depends I guess. Sometimes its with a spiritual question in mind. I just let the question "float" and then release it and see what comes to me. Sometimes it is with intention if it is concerning someone who may be in need. I think my habit is to start with a focus point or question and then relax into it kindof like clearing your mind but I have to release things first to get where I need to be. Once my mind is clearer everything takes off from there. Prayerful for me too is when I am studying or reading scriptures I will go into that meditative state. That actually was my second trigger when I finally figured out what it was my mind was actually doing. I started piano when I was a very little girl and that was actaully a trigger mechanism but had no idea until I was in my twenties that you could learn to induce that without a "prop" |

"Newberg found that result not only with Baime, but also with other monks he scanned. It was the same when he imaged the brains of Franciscan nuns praying and Sikhs chanting. They all felt the same oneness with the universe. When it comes to the brain, Newberg says, spiritual experience is spiritual experience. "There is no Christian, there is no Jewish, there is no Muslim, it's just all one," Newberg says." [link to www.npr.org] |

As a musician myself, I find that playing an instrument (specially piano) puts me in different mental state, a very peaceful one. And just like in meditation, some things that were a mistery before just "click" out of nowhere and it is wonderful. One thing that still remains a mistery is how are we able to go in a meditive state while putting our brain to a lot of work? Did you know that one of the activities that puts most parts of the brain to work is playing a musical instrument? “The living being had no need of eyes because there was nothing outside of him to be seen; nor of ears because there was nothing to be heard; and there was no surrounding atmosphere to be breathed; nor would there have been any use of organs by the help of which he might receive his food or get rid of what he had already digested, since there was nothing which went from him or came into him: for there was nothing beside him. Did you know that one of the activities that puts most parts of the brain to work is playing a musical instrument? Its finding that space there in between I think for me when I am playing and I have wondered the same things myself. How your mind can be so busy and still find that spot of complete contentment and peacefulness. Their is a disconnect there at some point because you have to let your body take over and that is when the mind takes off because if you thought about what all you were actually doing your music would just fall flat. Its that "zone" for me but it is a very mindful place to be. That peaceful feeling is like a marker to know when your there and music is the only thing other than traditional meditation that takes me to that place. I have a quote written in the top of one of my music books by Kelsey Grammer and he says "Prayer is when you talk to God. Meditation is when you listen. Playing the piano allows you to do both at the same time." :) |
