"Susan Wolver, MD, and Diane Sun, MD, from Virginia Commonwealth University in the US, and colleagues, explains why if you have been bitten by a tick, you may now develop an allergy to red meat. Their article elucidates this connection and discusses the journey of the discovery, yet stop short of emphasizing how these ticks were genetically designed. It's a new syndrome and natural consequence of the interaction of human blood and being bitten by modern ticks they say. Delayed anaphylaxis -- a severe, life-threatening allergic reaction -- to meat has been identified initially in the southeastern United States. Patients may wake up in the middle of the night, with hives or anaphylaxis usually three to six hours after having eaten red meat for dinner. Until recently, the link between red meat ingestion and anaphylaxis had remained elusive." We know more than we know and understand less than we think. |

Evidently, it came to attention in 2009. There have been hundreds of cases in NY too, so it is all the way up the Eastern coast... not just the South/Southeast. Never been bitten by a tick though. Grain fed meat, not grass fed. Furry-legged ticks I imagine, more furry than the other ticks. That would make your blood furry, and then...okay you might turn into a furry. No really your blood won't protein the same way with the tick bite. Mutants. Like "The Tick" |

Vegan's and vegetarian's don't have any math to do, its simple. Killing is killing... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 60157049 The Fascist classification is directed at those wanting totalitarian control over others... what they think and do. If you believe that shoe fits you, by all means, jam your foot in it and wear it proudly. Indeed, killing is killing... we ALL kill to eat, Including vegetarians and vegans. Science is proving that plants are far more aware and responsive than previously thought... put that in your pipe and toke on it... Oh Wait! That is killing a plant too! What are you going to think about this when the tigers, foxes, mountain lions, coyotes, dogs and cats (to only name a very few) start dying because they cannot eat? Just think about the bigger picture for a minute before falling victim to a knee-jerk emotional reaction. I get this crap already after eating store red meat. Headaches. The allergic reaction only happens after eating meat... and it seems to be a forever sort of allergy. Allergies usually associate with proteins... this one is sugars, I believe it said. We'd have Lots of competition for all those veggies if there are no predators to keep the cute little mice and bunnies, etc. in check. Who's gonna take care of that when it involves killing? We know more than we know and understand less than we think. |

Some patients react strongly to pork sausage or lamb, but can eat lean roast beef without having symptoms. Others react even to chicken sausage in pork casing or to marshmallows and gel-cap vitamins, since gelatin is made from animal byproducts. The good news is that the allergic reaction seems to fade after a few years in some sufferers if they avoid additional tick bites. We know more than we know and understand less than we think. |

I also have cats to keep the rodents down to a minimum and out of the garden. We know more than we know and understand less than we think. |

You can grow more food, in less space, using fewer resources, inside. And yes, growing your own food saves you money in the long run, removes the possibility of consuming genetically modified crops. That's two pretty significant boxes to tick. |

Think of how much more open, natural space there would be without 2-3 supermarkets in every fucking town. |

Will have to look again. Plants cannot be "KILLED" BE"LIE"VE what you will. Why are you bringing in animals? This is about US, animal are innocent. They do not have the capacities we have, comparing them to us in this sense is wrong. On a side note, an idea I had and have no idea if it is true but this is a conspiracy forum so here goes. I think that all meat eating animals can actually live off of plants, although it would be more specific diet for them. The bible talks about US being the CARETAKERS, I think we were meant to control the animal populations, feed them, ect. We were meant to take care of this garden known as earth, instead we let it run a muck. When I say control, I don't mean CONTROLLING. I simply mean to influence or to guide, like good parents. |

It's never real until it adversely affects you personally, I suppose. Just another sign of the times and the biggest engine driving this train on the track to extinction, imho. We know more than we know and understand less than we think. |
