rental prices in canada are out of fucking control, this country is going in the shitter

Not enough housing in area's where everybody can comute to work. I know tons of people in the same position. Many are getting together with others and sharing a place especially if they are not working camp or camp is not available.

Get a camp job if you can and solve the problem then you can live where ever you want and go home on days off. otherwise get some roomates.

RV'S are another way to have accomodations and pay to park them. Get an old trailer. Good thing summer is coming OP you could always camp out at a KOA.

Its just the way things are so find a solution instead of bitching about it. That kind of attitude won't solve your problem just make it worse for yourself because of your negitive head space.

Need a roommate? I need a place in GP Alberta end of april... 1200 is the cheapest I've been able to find as well and no one will take my fucking cat either. the rent up there is higher than vancouver which is supposed to be the most expensive city lol.

I agree OP .. in BC the rents are absolutely redonkulous. I'm going to be doing the roommate thing for awhile. The house rentals market is messed up bad. Landlords are paying huge mortgages, then they refinance which increases their mortgage payments even more, and its the tenants who end up paying these pathetic $3000 rents.

Nor is there any new apartments buildings being built. The ones already in existence are 20-50 years old and run down by slumlords & crackheads.

the housing markets for rentals & mortgages is going to burst all over Canada very soon. Then the businesses, companies, and corporations will be crying the blues cause none of their workers will be able to work because they can't find housing.

even the middle class who bought their homes (instead of renting) are being swallowed alive. Add in property taxes & insurance and there goes the paychecks. Which leaves most of their food, clothing, & utilities being paid with credit cards. Also see alot of foreclosures and "for sale" signs everywhere. It's going to get ugly.

I'm kinda grateful that I'm a renter and don't have mortgage & credit card debt. The lower income/working class gets made fun of all the time .. but I don't see it that way. being lower income means you are living within your means. That skill will come in real handy when the shit hits the fan. The middle & upper classes will shart their pants when all their money is stolen from their bank accounts.

Even in Alberta even parking an RV is hard. The campgrounds are all full of people from other provinces working in the only province with jobs. From Red Deer North it is like this.

If your not working a camp job up north finding an affordable place is next to impossible. Everybody I know has teamed up with people and rented houses and share same with people on opposite shifts and cycles.

im in calgary, and yeah for myself and 2 cats i am looking at 1100-1500 in rent (and then a few hundred more for tv/internet), and that would be a 1 or 2 (if lucky 2) bedroom apartment or condo with 500-700 sq feet

and to add these places are usually pretty nasty and hard to live, broken faucets, clogged holes, no dishwasher or access to washing machines

yep. i live in edmonton. this is mostly true, this city is fucking expensive to live in, and there's no apartments unless you're an affluent swanky d-bag who can afford a luxury condo or high-rise. and all of the rental places (mainstreet, boardwalk) only cater to immigrants. all the affordable/convenient rentals are in the 107th area but good luck getting one if you're white. (and i'm not racist by any means, it's just the inconvenient truth).

i'm moving further west soon. an apartment in the mountains is half the price of one in edmonton. fuck this city.

Try getting an english-fucking-speaki9ng cab driver in Toronto (or anywhere in the GTA) !! there IS nowhere left to run from the immigrant bastards. Even rural farm-town Ontario has become multi-culture central.
