'Bizarre' Cluster of Severe Birth Defects Haunts Health Experts - Washington State

mysterious cluster of severe birth defects in rural Washington state is confounding health experts, who say they can find no cause, even as reports of new cases continue to climb.

Federal and state officials won’t say how many women in a three-county area near Yakima, Wash., have had babies with anencephaly, a heart-breaking condition in which they’re born missing parts of the brain or skull. And they admit they haven't interviewed any of the women in question, or told the mothers there's a potentially widespread problem.

But as of January 2013, officials with the Washington state health department and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had counted nearly two dozen cases in three years, a rate four times the national average.

Since then, one local genetic counselor, Susie Ball of the Central Washington Genetics Program at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, says she has reported “eight or nine” additional cases of anencephaly and spina bifida, another birth defect in which the neural tube, which forms the brain and spine, fails to close properly.

“It does strike me as a lot,” says Ball.

And at least one Yakima mother whose baby is part of the cluster says no one told her there was a problem at all.

“I had no idea,” said Andrea Jackman, 30, whose blue-eyed daughter, Olivia, was born in September with the most severe form of spina bifida. “I honestly was really surprised that nobody had said anything. If my doctor hadn’t wanted us to see the geneticist, I wouldn’t have known.”

Surrounding one of the Largest Nuclear Waste Site in U.S. - Coincidence?

"There’s no secret, state and CDC officials said, and they noted that small clusters of birth defects often turn out to be nothing more than sad coincidence."

Somehow, I think its not a coincidence. All three counties surround one of the nations largest nuclear dump sites (Hanford), which has been leaking into ground water for years.

Nothing like drinking radiation or passing one of those trucks carrying the waste while pregnant. I passed one on the freeway while in my SUV with the wife/kids and it was putting out so much radiation it felt like we were driving through a microwave. Had to call 911 to report it it was so bad.

Yea I'm sure it's real mysterious to the 'experts'...

Hundreds of chemicals in the food, water and air.

Radiation, vaccines, chemicals are the politically correct terms for nuclear, biological and chemical weapons.

All diseases, illnesses, sicknesses are symptoms of poisoning.

I'd say these 'health experts' need to lose their fucking jobs if they can't figure out what is causing the birth defects, hundreds of diseases, and illnesses that are now common in population.

I have had a bizarre experience I want to share. Some will find it interesting.

A few days ago I was in the coastal small city named Blankenberge, in Belgium. I was sitting in a neighborhood cafe, busy with my netbook, minding nobody and nothing else than my own business.

An elderly man was sitting, alone, at a table at my left. Someone came in and went to sit down at his table. There was no talk however. Soon after I started to feel bothered: the new person, an elderly woman, was sitting not facing the man but facing me, and looking in my direction, in a strangely unfocused way. She didn't look drunk however although she did have a somewhat alcoholic and impoverished look.

This went on for some time and I felt more and more annoyed by the insistent staring of the woman which distracted me from my work at the laptop. In fact, it looked as that's exactly what she was trying to do... so I gave her a short angry look. This reaction of mine however seemed not to have been anticipated by her and she had a sudden look of panic in her eyes, and turned off her stare for a few moments to look at the man sitting opposite her.

Well... at that moment I noticed something: the woman had a scarf on her head but suddenly I noticed that she had a very small cranium: in fact, she was - not an anencephalic I suppose but a microcephalic which is something similar but not as extreme.

What I had noticed about her eyes was that she was staring at me and at the same time not at me; she was looking my way but not at me, and was like a sponge only waiting to suck up everything I would happen to "let loose" mentally, so to speak. A very weird and extremely bothering experience, believe me....

As soon as I had noticed this, I realized I should better try to ignore her... and she went on again to stare in my direction, exactly as before....

"The world will soon wake up to the reality that everyone is broke and can collect nothing from the bankrupt, who are owed unlimited amounts by the insolvent, who are attempting to make late payments on a bank holiday in the wrong country, with an unacceptable currency, against defaulted collateral, of which nobody is sure who holds title."
