Quoting: Sitting Back I am having a hard time believing this can be good for our children. Everything I have seen about it is worrisome. First, it takes away decisions about curriculum from local school districts and puts it at a federal level. Plus it has to be adopted in entirety so if your local school doesn't like some of the curriculum they still have to use it. There is a lot of communist ideology in the curriculum and Here is a pretty good article written about it (by educators) [link to www.thenewamerican.com] |

My friend, whom works as a guidance counselor in the public school department sings CC praises, said this new approach will teach children to "think abstractly, and more from the heart". My being a conspiracy theorist makes me very skeptical that any kind of social engineering from the Federal Government could be good for the individual in the long run, don't know? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 48175751 Homeschooling is fun too! I was lucky enough to do this for several years. I noticed a big difference in the kids attitude after several years of them being in the local schools among other things ughhhh |

Stop the inanity! User ID: 48661115 United States 10/31/2013 11:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | common core is step 3 in the dumbing down of america and separating parents from their children. step 1 - federal Department of Education step 2 - No Child Left Behind step 3 - Common Core step 4 - end home schooling step 5 - make all schools "boarding schools" step 6 - increase mandatory "education" to include all children ages 2-23, including 3-5 years of mandatory civil "volunteerism" steps 4-6 are speculation and 5 & 6 could be reversed. Repeal the 17th Amendment and the Reapportionment Act of 1929! Thread: First steps down the road to a return to the Constitutional Republic that we were intended to be. Restore the Republic. Quoting: Sitting Back I am having a hard time believing this can be good for our children. Anything out of the federal government is unmitigated crap. That's one reason why we homeschool. My cousin, whose kids are in public school, says they are destroying math with the Common Core. Who knows what else they're destroying. |

The book is called "Teach Like Your Hair's On Fire". He totally disses Common core and it's equally ridiculous precursors, and shows how kids can be taught well, and love learning. Throw out Common Core and just follow what he does. PS, it takes dedication and creativity. You can harness this stupidity called “common core” and 99% of the educational system and create a person who learns to question correctly what is taught. Teach your children teachers are not there to teach but there to baby sit, that it is the job of the student to learn independently of the educational process or the propaganda of the teachers themselves. I'm only human, it's my biggest flaw. We must all realize a sink a chair and a pillow are all luxuries of home and a soldiers helmet takes the place of all three. |
