Anonymous Coward User ID: 34963435 United States 05/17/2013 08:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So I don't know if it's just me, but have you ever been outside looking at the night sky and you see a flash of light out of the corner of your eye? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23747689 It reminds me of a camera flash. I stare in the general location where I saw the flash and maybe 20 seconds later I see another one, but dead on in my vision. Maybe another 30 seconds later I see another one. The sky is perfectly clear and it's definitely not an airplane as their flashing lights usually happen every x amount of seconds. These flashes are sporadic and don't follow a normal flight path. I usually see them between 1:00am and 5:00am in the morning. I thought they might be satelites but why would a satellite have sporadic flashing lights? Don't satellites take a direct path? These flashes show that the "craft" or whatever it is are first going north, the next flash is south, the next flash is west, then the next flash is north... Showing no direct path.. What could these be? Sometimes I see 3 flashes, sometimes I see 1, sometimes I see 5 or 10.. Any ideas? Did a couple nights ago, think it was a firefly now, last night, the night after the mysterious flash appeared, these little lights that looked just like the flash were flying all around my background and the neighbors. The lights would even go off and on, one would be flying with its light on, would go out and then I see it flying again lit up like 20 feet away. |

Some of them I do think are Geosynchronous satellites. Others...I'm not so sure about. Ever seen the same kind of flashing light travel all the way across the sky? I video'd one of them using a modified webcam. I had the webcam pointing skyward outside my window on the window sill and it captured one. One could easily argue its a military aircraft at high altitude or a plane from the video but I watched it just start flashing to my south moving north. I ran inside to get my binocs and when I got back out within 15 seconds it was gone. I later discovered the webcam had captured it coming from the same direction I had watched it while outside. I have yet to upload the video anywhere though. I'm not sure how to edit the video and trim it down to just the relevant part though. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33984290 personally i find it hard to believe that something the size of a van can be seen from 60 miles minimum when sun reflects as some ive seen are big flashes. you can see the flashes from iridium sattelites in the day also but it is more bright at night .get orbitron its a free download you can track the buggers then doesnt mean they are all iridium flares ive seen some wierd shit using sat tracking to sort out the obvious from the strange! |

Was out having a smoke on the back patio when this light looked like a moving star caught my eye. Within moments of me noticing it, it began to flash sporadically. There was no pattern what so ever, that I could tell. It did no follow a straight flight plan but rather came from the south, and veered to the northwest by the time it went over my home. Not sure what it was, but I haven't seen any activity since last fall. Winter was super quiet. Draw your own conclusions. I have no idea what I saw. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33903675 Try using windows movie maker to edit the video and upload it to youtube! =] Thanks, I might try that when I get home later tonight. These kind of sightings have become somewhat predictable for me the last couple of years. I don't know if its just me or not but I notice that January, February, April, and May seem to be the most active. March not so much and I'm not sure why. Last March I was outside readin about these flashing objects on AT$ and I got up and walked around the side of my house and looked up. I saw two of these bright starlike lights coming toward me from the North. They both lit up at the same time and blinked out together. I noticed the area around where they disappeared looked "hazy" for lack of a better word. It was surreal. Could my sightings have something to do with ever since I was 13 I have been "asking" for sightings/contact? |

Good example is to look at the pleiades straight on and then focus on area just beside it. They are much brighter when not directly focused on. Weird eye effect. |
