User ID: 1108496 Germany 03/25/2013 04:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | On 25 March, the Syrian opposition said that the governmental military forces fired chemical weapons from multiple rocket launchers at rebels surrounding an army base in the town of Adra, near Damascus. Mohammad al-Doumani, an activist told Reuters, “doctors are describing the chemical weapon used as phosphorus that hits the nervous system and causes imbalance and loss of consciousness. The two fighters were very close to where the rockets exploded and they died swiftly. The rest are being treated with Atropine.” [link to www.neurope.eu] I think we can surely say Assad used chemical materials in the conflict for some times. But always on a very small scale. The "red line" will only be crossed if there would be a large chemical attack with gas or something killing dozens of (civilians) |

User ID: 36652192 United Kingdom 03/25/2013 04:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Phosphorus is not included in Americas red line. Even NATO and Israel use phosphorus...... Quoting: NSF001 yes. but not including in a list doesn't make it non-chemical True but it's not what they mean when they refer to CW's. The red line referred to scheduled weapons as described here: [link to en.wikipedia.org] Phosphorus is a grey area ( [link to www.independent.co.uk] ) and as pointed out above is commonly used, it probably wasn't directly responsible for the two deaths, but why miss a good chance to score points when our media is so happy to oblige. I don't think so, he's up there with the others laying low, vying with those who you've traded your life to to bless your soul, |

Yes, as i said this will not lead to an intervention. There have to be a large scale attack with sarin gas or something like this to cross the red line. |

Assad has shown restraint so far and there has been no indication the regime is looking to escalate the situation. There is a minority among the 'rebels' who don't care about reform, freedom or any of that shit, there are there to cause carnage and prolong the conflict. They are the ones the international community should be pressuring but the western world has a vested interest in Assad being removed so they are complicit with the actions of these cells of mercenaries. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25740463 Its outlawed to use against civilians, even though the IDF have in the past. Its made to burn.... I thought so two. The rebels know that the International community will intervene with boots on the ground if chemical weapons are used. They seem desperate to call in the troops now everything will be chemical weapon. |

User ID: 36239413 United Kingdom 03/25/2013 06:29 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | when Israel was dropping phosphorous on Gaza a few years ago no one cared. let's see if this is any different Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5199737 I'd be very surprised if anyone really cared about the Syrians doing it in this case. And people did care (see the GLP threads on the matter...) just not anyone who mattered. |
