Mostly because EU through hefty fees is trying to remove non-mainstream seeds from the market. Each seed type to be sold within EU has to be registered (for a hefty fee), which makes odd, old and traditional seeds not used within commercial farming more or less impossible to sell without losing money for the enthusiasts still trying to maintain diversity... Obviously, the winners are monsanto and other evil companies... |
