I've known many people who have it removed only to NOT have their symptoms relieved. Quoting: mopar28m drcelltox.com is a good place to start. For those that still have issues is called bile salts diarrhea. Sometimes reflux too causing the pain. Taking a bile absorber helps. I'm on colestipid which is a binder also a cholesterol med and it prevents my my attacks. An over the counter remedy is chewable calcium caltrate which helps especially if taken before eating a fatty fast food meal which will cause a pain attack or the diarrhea |

But it occurred to me that people may not know this so I will share. Quoting: momma coop My mother has had gallbladder issues for more than ten years. She refused to have it removed. The last time I took her to the emergency room I heard the Dr. tell the nurse to give her Benadryl. The nurse told him she already had it ready. This was the first time I remembered hearing it so I asked the nurse why my mother was being benadryl. (I was thinking it was a mix up and she didn't really need it) The nurse said they always give gallbladder patients Benadryl because it stops an attack in its tracks. I asked her why (yes I am suspicious of everything they do and ask a lot of questions) She said they don't really know why, they only know it works. There it is, Take it or leave it. |

Seemed to fit that profile nearly every time. I did more gall bladd surgeries that I can count. Every one of them was on a slightly to very overweight female who was over the age of 40. So I guess ,the first step... Lose weight. |

However surgery is a last resort for him so ive been really trying to find an alternative method for removing the blockage so he doesnt have to have surgery. But he gets really bad gallbladder attacks freguently, so my question if he took benadryl for the attack could that have enough of a chance of making the situation with the blocked common bile duct worse to make it not worth the risk, or is it likely that the benadryl could have positive effects on his predicament, like maybe even clearing out the stone altogether?? very worried about him and in desperate need of knowledgable counsel. will check for responses for tomorrrow but any good information would mean to the world to me. Gotta Love your Dad!! thank you very much in advance ps. idk if this is relevant but it is FOR Sure a non-calcified blockage near the top of the common bile duct. so its not really a stone it is just a non calcified blockage.:) "Believe nothing, no matter where you read it or who has said it. He may not want to fast but if he drinks a lot of Welch's Grape Juice (from frozen concentrate) there is a very good chance he could purge the stone painlessly. Helps liver and GB. Works like the olive oil but much more gentle. |
