I think it's absolutely ludicrous to ban ANY food. Americas are free to fill up on whatever crap they want or take a healthy approve and avoid harmful foods like sodas and dairy products. But popcorn? Come on you fool, popcorn is a healthy alternative until you fattening it up with that butter flavored oil. What's next? Banning beef? Quoting: The6thFloor The corporations involved are jumping on the big gov bandwagon. They have heavy hitting PR militia bearing a "we care about you" theme, all the while touting new laws banning food & drinks instead of teaching nutrition. Even a better idea would be to double or triple the price of fast food and reduce the price of organic and natural fruit's, vegetables by 80%. Maybe the public will eat more healthy foods if they could afford them. The board yesterday agreed to put Bloomberg’s big-soda ban up for a public hearing July 24, but also talked about the merits of limiting other high-calorie treats. Someone needs to remind the people of New York to stop electing people who think government should run their lives. "God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787 |

Ever notice how they believe it's their duty to tell everyone else how to live, while they continue to do whatever the hell they want to. I watch my weight and what I eat. I exercise it's hard work BUT I don't care what anyone else eats, or how much they weigh. This is America and if they want to overeat that IS NOT ANY OF MY BUSINESS or Mayor Bloombergs or Michelle Obama's |

It is the only way we can afford the snacks. I am glad I don't live in NYC, and I am sick and tired of the Gov. telling us what we can and can not do. |

With the purchase of a large soda and popcorn, our movie theater gives us free refills. It is a no brainer with a large family. Just bring some zip lock baggies and put the popcorn in it so you don't always have to keep passing the bucket around. |

The Demoncrat Mayoral candidates in NYC are always far worse than what we've been seeing out of him. BTW, I just heard on the radio that the Bd. Of Health also wants to ban milkshakes. They're going to have one public hearing on this subject. That should be fun. I've been to a couple of public hearings in NYC. User ID: 14931439 United States 06/13/2012 12:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I wonder if the movie theaters in NY take EBT cards. I've seen the poorest-looking families buying tacos, pizza, HUGE popcorn, HUGE drinks, candy, etc. Between all the food and the price of movie tickets, if they get away with spending less than $300 to see a movie, I'd be surprised. ______________ As long as I am an American citizen and American blood runs in these veins I shall hold myself at liberty to speak, to write, and to publish whatever I please on any subject.” - Elijah Parish Lovejoy(1802-1837) All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent...Thomas Jefferson The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government...Thomas Jefferson When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty...Thomas Jefferson Truth will ultimately prevail where there is pains to bring it to light...George Washington |
