Anonymous Coward User ID: 10269206 United States 02/08/2012 06:21 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | So, I have taken delivery of my silver, and now I am confronted with the best method for safe storage. I bought an aluminum tool box to put it in, but then I read this link on risks of corrosion [link to forums.silverstackers.com] So, my question is, In order to protect the silver from contact with the tool box, can I wrap it in a cotton towel or sheet? The tool box will be kept in a safe dry place. I would really appreciate any advice on this! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10321075 are you wanting to protect it from theft? Or just from the "weather"? first off silver won't corrode without exposure to caustics or acids just think of all the "silver" coins found by metal detecting hobbyist you really should worry more about theft....buy a good quality safe that is burglar and fire resistant, and I ain't talking about one from wal-mart! it always has amazed me that someone would spend thousands on gold & silver and then "trust" it to a safe that anyone could "get into" in about 3 mins using basic tools oh yea, bolt the dam thing down to the floor!!!!! |
