Hebrews 13:2 "Don't forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!"

So much anger and hatred in response to this thread. For those of you out there that are posting complaints about how "God doesn't keep promises", or "God is unfair because some of His followers suffer", or my personal favorite, "God isn't blessing you with a fat wallet because you aren't good enough or you aren't doing enough" etc. etc. etc.

I have one thing I must say, God does NOT cause suffering! Yes, sometimes he ALLOWS Satan to cause suffering in life. But no where in any scripture does it say, "Follow me and I will make you rich beyond the dreams of avarice." That is a promise that ONLY Satan ever makes. In fact, over and over in the Bible it tells us that followers of Him will be persecuted, and hated for His name. I do not seek wealth, although money is necessary. I do not seek fame, but God may someday thrust that upon me. I do not seek absolution, but Jesus gave that to me freely. I DO seek to follow His guidance, and to do his will. If I do these things God will always give me what I NEED. Not what I WANT.

For those of you out there that think, why is God punishing me when I follow Him? Why am I not rewarded the way King David was? I just have one thing to say...Read the book of Job in the Bible.

Maybe, just maybe, the reason we are made to suffer as Christians is because we are DOING SOMETHING RIGHT!

WORD! Great post, friend!!!

I love hearing truth around here. This has been an excellent thread.

I was just an athiest about 4 months ago, I used to hate people who said things in God's name. In my eyes, God changing me is the ultimate proof that He exists. Yes, there is suffering, but the despair of an empty heart, void of God, is worse than anything I can describe. I lived it so I know...

Welcome to the fold. As a new believer if you have any questions, get yourself into a good Bible based church or study group. If all else fails, feel free to ask me anything. Also, check out my blog below. I am one who never takes anything at face value, and I ask many many questions myself. I have been a believer since childhood and I still learn something new every day. May God bless you and keep you, may He make his face to shine upon you.
Matthew 6:27 And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?

Matthew 6:34 “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

So, gas is an issue for you huh?
Gas is an issue for all of America who works for a living making decent to little pay, who have to pay for the rising costs of everything due to the cost of gas and oil.

It is an issue that must be dealt with, or it will continue to deal with us in it's own fashion.

Obama proposes this or that.
Democrats propose this or that.
Republicans propose this ot that.
Candidates propose this or that.

No one is proposing to do anything about the problem of oil and gas prices and the pollution that comes with it.
Petrol is a very important component of our economy and many other nation's economies that have to buy it from others who have it under their land, that pump it out to sell on the market.

Those nations that have oil under their land are doing pretty well because they almost give it away to their citizens, like we used to when we found our own oil in Texas, and other states, that fueled growth for a long time, because it was cheap.

Wait until the price rises to 5 or 6 dollars a gallon, what will we do?

What will we do if it reaches 10 dollars a gallon?

How will we be able to heat our homes and drive our cars if we can't afford to buy it?
