I'll stay inside in a cold, air conditioned office and park close to wally mart or wherever when out. It's worth 4 months of heat to get a super-low cost of living and good weather most of the rest of the year. |

Quoting: ThePaleOneVery likely i won´t reply this evening as it is 10pm over here but after a few *hot* days i really have a question for those people in the south. How do you work and live in the summer heat of texas and florida ? Sure, AC makes it liveable at home, in the office but what about all the rest ? Paving streets, repairing roofs and all the other jobs that can not be done in an "closed" environment. Any magic tricks ? By hardening the fuck up? |

If you spend a decent amount of time outside, you get used to it. Just drink plenty of water, cover up, and wear a hat to shade your head and face from the sun. |

I do my outside work during the hottest part of the day to avoid mosquitoes. During breaks I drink water and eat a pinch of salt. |

It gets 110 here in Texas where I live, Iv seen it get 140 on the rig floor add in 0% humidity 20-30 mph winds and it feels like your in a oven. Best thing to do is wear a thin long sleeve shirt keeps you cooler and drink lots of water, no gatoraid. :sigjosh: :ronswansontax: “We have allowed our nation to be over taxed and over regulated and overrun by bureaucrats, the founders would be ashamed of us for what we're putting up with.” Ron Paul . “My idea of a perfect government is one guy who sits in a small room at a desk, and the only thing he’s allowed to decide is who to nuke. Don't get used to super cool air conditioning as that makes it worse when you have to go outside. I always preferred the heat anyway but sometimes the humidity gets on my nerves. I could tolerate the 110+ degree heat in the southwest anyday. |
