Hey... I'm in South Carolina too. Upstate (Greenville area) here...you? Summerville/North Charleston area. And it's hot as a bitch today. Gonna go fishing here after while. |

I'll take my dry heat in California any day. Quoting: Earth DaughterUgh, Georgia girl here, I don't know how you stand the dry heat. Dry heat feels like my skin is on fire! Guess it's all what you're used to. I'll take a 95 degree day with 100% humidity anytime over 30 degrees and snow. Dry heat is deceptive, you think it's not that hot and next thing you know you're dehydrated, you gotta be careful. I worked one summer years ago in the Arizona Desert laying a temporary Airfield out all day in the sun. It wasn't that bad really if you kept hydrated. The buildings were just flat roof block buildings with no AC and at night we wouldn't even sleep in them, we'd all sleep outside. Of course that was in the Marines and we were lucky to even get water I suppose because they don't give you shit as they spend all the money on the trashy officers corps who were living in the lap of luxury while all this was going on. |

As a former retail manager, that would be a huge clue that they were up to no good! Don't notice them inside...the guy with the "Parka" pulled up next to me at a redlight...he was in a old beat up camero with the windows(AC not working)...hell I broke a sweat just looking at him... the other recent one was a "family" in an old Nissan...windows down, no AC....there were 5 folks in the car...mom,dad, 9-11 yr old boy, small child in car seat, and a 13-50 yo boy with the "Hoodie" up....the other 4 were sweating like pigs...but this guy "had the hood up" |

Quoting: ThePaleOneVery likely i won´t reply this evening as it is 10pm over here but after a few *hot* days i really have a question for those people in the south. How do you work and live in the summer heat of texas and florida ? Sure, AC makes it liveable at home, in the office but what about all the rest ? Paving streets, repairing roofs and all the other jobs that can not be done in an "closed" environment. Any magic tricks ? Drink Gatorade and eat bananas. |

Three days with 90 and high humidity .. next day it is rain with 50 and you need the central heating .. to be even colder next day and just when you have collected the long sleeved stuff .. it´s 80 and rising to 90. So i am looking for those "tricks" to stand the heat. yeah .. being used to AC at work (my home inside does not need one .. 1 meter walls ) it pisses me off that i can not do that much as i would like after work on a hot day. I've been here almost a decade, after spending most of my life in Minnesota. Summer in GA is like Winter in MN. Just stay inside! I'm of Scadi descent and I'll tell ya, moderate exercise in this weather is a quick invite to heat stroke. I have a friend whose AC went out during the night. His place heated up and he got heat stroke in his SLEEP! That said, being of N. European DNA, I 'laugh at the cold' - It means nothing to me to be hanging out in 40 degree weather in a t-shirt and open leather jacket. I find it invigorating. The heat here in GA puts a whole new perspective on the cruelty of slavery! |

We have had a scorcher summer with high humidity this year. I hope Florida's humidity will be no worse. We stay inside a lot. We will be moving to Florida and traveling in our 5th wheel soon. My husband and I are disabled and our health requires we be in a warm climate, but the med's we take require we not get overheated. We are excited about our travels, especially when winter comes, to be in the south. We will be taking your advice and I will try fishing in the morning and evening when it is extremely hot. |
