If you don't see improvement with your meds and things seem to be getting worse as much as I hate Dr's you better get to a clinic. I did not and ended up with double pneumonia--that was a real bitch. Couldn't even work. Once you have pneumonia you are unfortunately more prone to it due to lung scarring ect. Quoting: CrazyLadyBe careful!!! As tough as it is to believe someone named 'crazylady'...i actually believe you and i will definitely seek medical advice on monday if conditions do not improve. That was my concern. Pneumonia sucks and I've had it two times since I moved to FL. :( Part of my prayer for you, Richard, was for discernment on whether or not you should take the medication. I covered all the other bases too. ;) Thanks, my friend! I'll try posting tomorrow of any changes. |

LOL In this case I do know that of which I speak.. Trust me when I say the meds for pneumonia are as deadly as the pneumonia.. for instance, mine said take with food. I however, felt like death and had no appetite for even a cracker.. took pills on empty stomach. Ended up vomiting bile for so long I passed out hitting my head on bathtub, requiring stitches LOL!! You don't want to go there! See that doc on Monday if things aren't better! Peace :) I sure will. |

Not comfy, but it will do the trick so you can get a little rest. "Nothing is as far away as one minute ago." --Jim Bishop :gameizovar: It's DO:OM o'clock. WAKE UP! |

I went to the minute clinic. Gave me a inhaler. THank god, the cough can drive you insane! Quoting: SickScentWhat was in the inhaler?? My coworker just got antibiotics. Don't know the kind though. Dude, it's killing me. The cough is dry throughout the day...like an itch in my throat. As soon as i lay down..it gets 10 times worse. If you have Buttercup Syrup over there that WILL work...if you dont, then i feel sad cos i get this a lot and its the only stuff that works..takes half an hour then you can sleep all night without coughing |

User ID: 1248075 United States 02/12/2011 05:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Clear Your Lungs Out Tea: [link to monkeyfister.blogspot.com] Every person that I know seems to be dealing with a nasty upper respiratory ailment these days. When I feel my lungs filling up with goo, I take immediate steps to stop it. Here's the deal: When you get a viral or biological infection in your lungs, your body jumps into action to stop the infection by producing and flooding (or storming) the lungs with Cytokines-- little infection-eating cells. Unfortunately, the body usually over-produces the Cytokines, and needs to be called off somehow, lest pneumonia sets in. So YOU need to help your body get over itself. While you're also taking your Tussin DM (the only Tussin worth taking*) and perhaps a prescription or OTC remedy, you want to prepare and drink this tea recipe every four hours to get your lungs cleared out. BTW-- The body's reaction is the same to any lung infection, not just H5n1. Recipe: In a 12-16 oz mug add: 1 heaping TSP of Turmeric 1 TSP Ground or 1 heaping TSP, fresh grated Ginger 2 Bags Green Tea (optional) 1 TSP of fresh Thyme Add hot water, let steep for 3-5 minutes. Sweeten with LOCAL HONEY (only) to taste. Drink down. Eat some bread with a i-TBS pat of real butter-- you only need the butter for the lipids, which everything else with ride on. Olive Oil will work. It doesn't taste bad-- Turmeric has no real flavor, a bit gritty. You taste the Ginger, and the Honey and Tea. You'll want to take this again. Here's what's going on: Turmeric-- High in Curcumin. "Curcumin is the compound that gives turmeric spice its bright yellow appearance. It has been used in herbal medicine for a variety of inflammatory conditions, including fever, arthritis, and psoriasis. Curcumin not only blocks TNF, but it is an inhibitor of the MAPK p38 system." It uptakes into the body metabolism weakly, that's why you need a full teaspoon per Tea. Ginger-- "Ginger is related to the turmeric plant (source of Curcumin), and like curcumin, ginger can block TNF by interfering with the MAPK p38 pathway. Green Tea-- "Green tea is rich in a group of chemicals known collectively as catechins. These catechins have demonstrated anti-viral activity, inhibit the enzyme Neuraminidase, act as Hemagglutinin Inhibitors and reduce the production of TNF and other inflammatory compounds." Honey-- Contains a variety of histamines, and pollens, as well as other nutrients that help boost the body's resistance to infection. It's simple sugars are easily, and safely absorbed in the body. Even for Diabetics. Quotes Taken From Here: [link to images.google.com] Thyme-- contains Thymol, which has anti-viral and anti-biotic effects. I can tell you right now that this works, and works QUICKLY. It doesn't get in the way, or negatively affect any known remedy that I have used-- TheraFlu, PseudoEphidrine, AlkaSeltzer Cold/Flu... or ANY antibiotics. It doesn't make one feel "weird," or freakish... It just helps your body to heal itself. It doesn't even taste bad. Trust me on this one-- it looks nasty, tastes OK, and it WORKS. And really-- what are you REALLY saving that Turmeric that came with your Spice Rack for, anyway? This is the BEST use for it. Look, try it for a day or two... Curse me out it it doesn't help, but, I don't expect anything but "Thank yous." You'll be hacking out lung cookies in no time, as your lungs clear. Remember-- I'm not a doctor, and I use this as a preventative measure only. If you are not getting better in two or three days-- or if things get worse, stop, and go see a Doctor... You've probably got bigger issues. This tea is only a helper, not a cure-all. (*)Tussin DM is an expectorant only. You DON'T want a cough suppressant-- you want a productive cough... Lung cookies... You WANT clear lungs. UPDATE: Reader, Mr.(Dr.?) Eric J. Leopold, has shared some fine discussion about curcumin in (blog at link) comments. Thank you for the insight, and such personal testimonial. I don't get a lot of commenters, but, I give thanks for the quality of content and insight left by those brave few who do. Thank you! User ID: 1215284 United States 02/12/2011 06:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Definitely get some Mucinex or an equivalent. This is an expectorant and loosens the mucus. [link to en.wikipedia.org] Possibly a cough suppressant but not sure. You might need to get it 'up' and that is why you are coughing. [link to en.wikipedia.org] Absolutely NO antihistamines, as that will dry you up and keep you from getting the crap out. Put a large pan of water on the stove, bring it to a boil and keep it at a simmer all day, so you can get some serious moisture in the air. Keep filling that pot up with water, until you go to bed. Unless of course you have a vaporizer handy. I would also stay away from any decongestants. They also tend to dehydrate you. Finally, lots and lots of fluids. This will also help the Guaifenesin work. Drink until you can't stand to drink anymore and THEN drink some more. I mean clear fluids, but I guess you know that. I like to make some broth and put hot sauce in it. Cayenne, any hot peppers will also break up congestion. This also helps a little with the pain. AND as others have said on this thread, get to the clinic Monday if you are not feeling better. Added: Not a medical professional. Just someone with no insurance that has to do it the cheap way and a mom. Last Edited by exStepfordian on 02/12/2011 06:24 PM All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Quoting: SickScentalbuterol isn't a steroid- it's a broncho-dilator you can use it as needed for wheeze and cough caused by broncho-constriction and it opens your tubes so that you can hoik your snot out, good and proper the steroid inhalers dampen the more immune mediated hypersensitivity of asthmatic types of lung and only used once or twice daily but regularly and may be 'stepped up' if an asthmatic type gets an infection mr strong if you are not feverish , weak or have lost your appetite if you are just a bit fatigued and coughing but generally well, then ride it out , steam inhale a couple of times a day, get rid of as much snot as you can for the next few weeks you don't need antibiotics for half the stuff it's prescribed for. for the record, clarithromycin would work for most bacterial bronchitis but it wouldn't usually be first choice so if you eat well, get some decent sleep -don't over do it and drink extra water you'll be fine which i hope you are updateroo? |
