Madigan that's cool that your dad used to sing that to you :) Kachina I thought I'd mention the bird activity because usually there is one doom mongerer who mentions them. But I am an avid bird lover and I have all sorts of birds hanging around my house which I feed (I know what I'm doing) and play with. Point is, wasn't just slightly odd behaviour, was unheard of behaviour. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 940676 United States 06/16/2010 12:53 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I think we have greater problems than one single BIG earthquake or one single volcano outbreak. I think the whole pacific plate has enorm stress. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 940676Some kind of scaring, isn't it? [link to earthquake.usgs.gov] Just when I was writing this, another mag5: [link to earthquake.usgs.gov] ITA. Then there's the North American plate. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_Plate Haiti sits where the North American and Caribbean plates meet. Iceland sits where the North American and Eurasian plates are pulling apart. The gulf is also part of the North American plate. Alaska, too. Clickable link of plate map: [link to en.wikipedia.org] |

User ID: 949144 Australia 06/16/2010 12:58 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I watch USGS and other live seismometers for years. A mag 7 earthquake is nothing unusual and has definetly not the chance to be a big deal. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1004759The 2010 Haiti earthquake (Haitian Creole: Tranblemanntè 2010 nan pe Ayiti) was a catastrophic magnitude 7.0 Mw earthquake, with an epicentre near the town of Léogâne, approximately 25 km (16 miles) west of Port-au-Prince, Haiti's capital... the Haitian Government reported that an estimated 230,000 people had died, 300,000 had been injured and 1,000,000 made homeless.
