IE started deteriorating a couple weeks ago. Videos wouldn't work, hotmail wouldn't work, some websites wouldn't load.

I downloaded Firefox, kinda slow (dial-up here) but at least it will get you there, unlike IE who just gives up.

We do, and it is good.

The good thing with firefox is that you can actually connect to long distance internet

Long distance internet is very useful when browsing site out of your original country

Firefox is pretty good, version 3 is less of a memory hog than version 2 was. Try to keep the number of addons you have installed to a minimum, as they sometimes conflict with each other and also can make firefox much slower.

That said, I recommend Adblock Plus (block almost all advertising online, makes the internet SO much better). You can get it at the firefox addon website.

You may also want to look into SRWare Iron, it is another web browser, based off of Google's Chrome browser, but without the bits that let google spy on you. Iron/Chrome are actually faster than Firefox

Huh? That is not how the internet works. You can access foreign websites from any web browser.

Now just look up adblock and noscript and you'll be good to go.

I surf w/Chrome.

It's the safest bet.

My favorite addons on FF3 are FastestFox, LastPass (awesome!), Craigslist Prefetcher, Cool Previews, Download Statusbar, and of course Google Toolbar.

I used it for years. as for addons, I recommend using

NoScript - keeps you safe
Flashblock - blocks all flash ads
Context Search - allows you to search from the right click menu by highlighting and selecting the search engine you want.
very handy.

I just realised you can download loads of apps for it - I am a noob haha!

Also try AdBlocker Plus an excellent addon for firefox. it gets rid of all the terrible ads here

I don't use Firefox any more. I much prefer Opera as my main browser. Give it a try as an alternative:

I use Firefox instead of internet explorer, originally because firefox was far more advanced in pop-up and ad blocking and FF was so much faster than IE.

On my Apple iPhone I use Safari but I don't like Safari on a PC.

I havent seen an internet ad, popup, or banner in over a year.

Its MUST HAVE free software for Firefox.

COOL IRIS is also a VERY cool app for Firefox.

It allows you to search google images in a 3D slide.
