This happened with every disaster that either the RED CROSS or Government take donations for. CORRUPTION just to get your money.

I'm so disgusted with people who would give to the red cross after katrina.

I trust very few, and hence only give to those I know are in need.

And when I give, it is done directly to the recipient.

Family members who can't afford toys for their kids don't have to go to Christmas charities... I play Santa.

Friends who haven't been out to dinner for ages because they have no funds... we'll take them out.

Sister can't pay her utilities because she lost her job... I pay over the phone for her.

Nephew who lost his mom has no school clothes? I took him clothes shopping.

We repaired the neighbors lawnmower, took in two homeless kitties, pushed an elderly couple out of a snow bank, volunteer in local schools, coach volleyball and baseball, etc...

There are so many ways to make a huge difference in the lives of others without unintentionally lining the pockets of thieving villanous perpetrators.

That's how I give. I did send money for Haiti victims via their American family members. I purchased 2 tankers full of water from Dominica, and the fuel.
