A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO THE HISTORY OF EVOLUTION

It will come as a surprise to many to learn that evolution is not a modern idea, spawned by the pressure of scientific evidence. Evolution’s roots go back several millennia; back to ancient Babylon and Sumer.

The word “evolution” means “unfolding.” When applied to the creation of the universe it tacitly supposes that God, at best, had a more-or-less passive role in the history of the creation. By “God” I mean, of course, the God of the Bible. The ancients had other gods which they held accountable for the creation. The earliest surviving extra-Biblical account of the creation came to us from the ancient Babylonians. The Babylonian creation accounts are typified by that found in the Epic of Gilgamesh. From said epic we learn that the Babylonians believed the universe to have had a chaotic beginning.

Some centuries later, under Alexander the Great, the Greeks inherited the Babylonian culture, complete with its mythol­ogy. In the Greek writings we find a strong reinforcement of the superstition of evolution: that the world as we now know it was not created in its present form and that the life it bears evolved into its present forms through tens of millennia. To the Greeks the creator of the universe was the god, Chaos. The most prominent Greek advocates of evolution were Thales, Anaximenes, Aristotle and Lucretius.

Although the Greek myths of the creation were interpolated from the Babylonian before 200 B.C., we can still find the same myth in modern “science.” Today, “scientists” no longer share quite the same animistic theological bent as held by the ancient Greeks and so it is that modern “science” does not claim that the god, Chaos, created the universe. So as not to smack of the super­natural, “science” instead drops the title “god” and writes the “god’s” name with a lower-case letter. Hence modern “science” claims that the cosmos came into being, by chance (or chaos) and that it had a chaotic beginning (that is, it exploded into existence). Though other terminology may be used today, the idea is still basically the same as that held by the ancient Greeks; the only difference being that the modern version of cosmogony avoids using the words “god” and “creator”.

The speculation that the universe had a chaotic origin is not the only place where modern “science” partakes of the fables of the ancients. Circa A.D. 50 Hinduism was born with its belief in the life cycles of reincarna­tion. The Hindus extrapolated the reincarna­tion theme to the very universe itself. To them the universe was reborn only to die, only to be reborn, only to die, and so on and so on. Today we find the same whim alive and well in modern “science” here some variations of the “Big-Bang” have the universe exploding into existence and then collapsing back onto itself only to blaze forth again in another “Big-Bang” only to die again only to be reborn and so on and so on. Lest the reader think it merely a coincidence, we submit that the original model for the “oscillating Big-Bang” (also called the “gnaB-giB”) had a “reincarnation” life-cycle of about 50 billion years. This “happens” to be the same cycle time held by the Hindus. Furthermore, at the time that the “gnaB-giB” model was proposed, the universe was held to be about 7 billion years old -- the same age the Hindus hold for this present reincarnation. (Actually, the Hindus claim to know that age to the exact year.)

But the Hindu model of the universe was not the first reincarnation model. Before them a Jewish cult, called the “Cabalists” for their reverence of a mystical book called the Cabala, had advocated that the universe would undergo seven “reincarnation” cycles of seven thousand years each. Each seven-thousand year cycle would have its seventh millennium as that of the Lord’s rest. It is from the Caballists that we have received the “Gap theory” of creation -- the belief that a pre-existent world is referred to in Genesis 1:1 and that said world was destroyed and that the creation account starting at Genesis 1:2 is actually a re-creation and does not at all describe the creation.

Christianity is incompatible with Marxism because of Marx's admonition against religion. But in general principle...

From time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles' feet,and it was distributed to anyone as he had need."

How similar is that to Marx's "from each according to his ability to each according to his need"?

Early church history (taken directly from the writings of the early church fathers): through the first, second and first-half of the third centuries AD, the church WAS communal. Then greed and power and corruption began to raise their ugly heads and by mid-fourth century AD, Christianity had become unrecognizable.

What's WRONG with free education? Why shouldn't ALL children have equal opportunity to achieve their potential? Why should poor children be denied the same educational opportunities that wealthier children enjoy?

Please don't point out the rare "exceptions", the very, very few children who overcame hardship as overachievers. I'm talking about the great majority of AVERAGE children, both rich and poor, starting out in life with the same opportunity based on a fair standard: their ability and hard work (study) and educational achievements, NOT their parents' pocketbooks.

Now I'm not defending the Soviet and Chinese debacles -- neither country ever achieved anything close to Marxism. They both ended up as oppressive totalitarian fascist states. And lessons were learned then about flaws in Marx's theory: a) abolishing religion is a bad idea, b) nationalizing culture to a "bland gray state mentality" is a bad idea, c) Marx's "temporary dictatorship of the proletariat" will never work.

Most modern socialists/communists agree that a stable, fair, TRUE democratic government has to be in place before any kind of socialist (or communist) economic system can work.

So step one for most modern socialists is establishing a fair democratic political system of government by the people, with fair election laws. Is anyone against that idea?

After that, yes, we socialists, many of us Christians who believe in the principles of the early church, hope that the majority of the people will realize the inherent flaws in a capitalist economic system (which has in our own country ended up in a corrupt oligarchy), and choose, of their own accord, with free access to ALL information (no reasonable person promotes state censorship or book burning or propaganda), a more equitable socialist-TYPE economic system.

However, the most important principle, as it should be with ALL political, government, social and economic systems, is to keep the flexibility factor in place in order to correct mistakes -- because mistakes will ALWAYS be made. This principle can only be achieved by keeping a fair and TRUE democracy, government by the people, sacrosanct.

Some what took a required CR course? Who took it? Who required it? What makes it a brainwashing class? You may not require that it agree with your beliefs, you may only require that it teach well-researched facts and accepted theories with some evidence in their support. Otherwise, "brainwashing" is just so much slander and name-calling as might be used by someone with no foundation for good argument. By the way, what in heaven's name is "pagan evolution?" Who or what specifically attacks Genesis and Creation? this Comparative Religion class that you babble about? Why not quote the class material, a text book I presume? And while you're at it, tell me what class in what school--and a whole lot of examples would be nice if you want this to be a convincing conspiracy. Who says God and evolution do not mix, besides yourself and others of your sect? I know Christians who accept that God created the world through evolution and merely gave the Genesis myth to the writer of Genesis because, at the time that was the only level of comprehension they were capable of. There was no science at the time Genesis was written. Just as there were no pianos and no TVs and no churches. Genesis explained creation in terms that people of the time could understand. You live in a modern world and science explains the origins much better now. People who feel that science is attacking God instead of improving human understanding have very little knowledge of science or God.

Please do not present unfounded, baseless fantasies without some effort to explain why anyone should believe them. You owe your own reputation better than that.

What in the world are you talking about? "The Jesuits run education from the United Nations"????? What does that even mean? Who created most of the world's religions? Are you still talking about the Jesuits? I'm sorry but you don't have a clue what you are talking about. Maybe you should try education before you start shooting your mouth off about it.

In reality, you simply seeing a NEW MODEL of MASS MIND CONTROL being trotted out, as the centuries old "Christianity" one has served its purpose. (Clearly it worked on you...)
