There was a discussion at work about the use of pesticides. I said that I do not use them. I let the skunks take care of it; and I talk to them and thank them for doing such a good job. One night I was sitting in the back yard and heard something crawl under my fence and walk to my side. I assumed it was one of my cats and reached to pet it. Just then I saw this little skunk looking up at me. I told this story to my co-workers and they suggested that the skunk is my current animal totem. I embraced this. A couple of weeks later I was up in the middle of the night watching TV. I saw a skunk walk right by me and into my office. I stayed frozen. The skunk seemed very comfortable. He then walked over to cat's water dish. I could not see him but waited and waited. He finally walked by and out the cat door. I thought perhaps I had embraced the skunk a little too much. At night I barricaded the cat door. A couple of nights later I heard something at the door and a baby skunk had slid though and was standing inside the door looking confused. My cat stood right in front of him blocking the way. I told the baby to leave and he circled round and round. I felt he was saying he was told to come in and he seemed to say "my bad" "sorry" and walked out. So I told the skunks that the interior of my house was off-limits and they haven't come inside since, but still walk around my house every night to eat the bugs. And no, me nor my cats have ever been sprayed. Skunk as animal totem: [link to www.linsdomain.com] |

I also ran over a Skunk on the road, but I didn't kill it or anything, I thought it was a popcan [at night], all I could see was a verticle black & white stripe in the middle of the road. But he sprayed the underbody of my SUV and I finally learned what "Skunk" smells like [Other than the Cannabis strain] and damn - what a unique smell. They're awesome creatures... I like em. See ya. |

I don't think he planned on motor vehicles because skunks never did learn that a car is not intimidated by a foul smell. Skunks think everything will steer clear of them but it is their downfall. |
