Re: What are the marks of a sick culture?
1. Homosexuality being promoted as normal behavior.
2. Taxation without representation. Politicians do whats best for themselves not you, they sell your grandchildren into debt to buy votes from people who don't produce.
3. Re-writing of history to include everyone / political correctness.
4. No respect for elders, senior citizens have become the butt of jokes, put in homes and forgotten about.
5. Me first mentality.
6. Multiculturalism

P.S. Duncan, men over women has always been the norm in a patriarchal society, its just recently in the West that women have become 'equal'.

Excellent. I would add:

Poor treatment of the vulnerable: elderly, children, sick, women, disabled, immigrants, homosexuals, minorities, poor, and animals.

Environmental destruction.

Rigid religious beliefs and stereotypes.

Profit as a primary motivation.

Infidelity/divorce, lack of permanent commitment

5. Me first mentality.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 243849

IMO, "me first" characterized the 80s. We have since digressed to a pervasive "it's ALL about me" approach to life in the last decade. The sheer number of sociopaths and sociopathic behavior in our society is vile and incredibly distressing.

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.

I personally don't believe that everyone should be going along with everything everyone else does. That must be a very old book.

The "Majority" rules. Small weird groups such as gays, porn, militants, etc. etc. etc. are what set the world out of balance. IMO.

Sorry, I do not have time to list all the things I can think of.

The good thing about living in other countries and cultures is it makes it much easier to look at your own nation and culture and realize what is wrong with it.

The same thing is true of Star Children and Wanderers, they have a perspective of earth that only the very old STO earth souls can begin to appreciate.

I would add control of women's reproductive ability. In the U.S. GOOD birth control should be free, legal and readily available.

But the right wingers want to control when, if and where a woman reproduces, don't they?

The right wing is oh so concerned about the unborn but once that baby is born they simply DO NOT CARE! This reveals the truth, it is all about control, but most of what is happening on earth is about control. Controlling YOU!

The Nation that forgets God is heading for judgement. It would seen to me that the Muslim world is being punished first. In the Western world it seems pretty obvious to me that the USA is already feeling the Lords wrath, with the UK following as a close second. The Missing Day...

I agree that a culture that loses its relationship with its god(s) is on the way to extinction, but it is this very fact that makes the Muslims so dangerous -- they do practice their religion, and they practice it with a lot more vigor than we do.

It is Islam -- although you and I may not consider it the "true" religion, it is obvious that the Muslims do -- which unites the Arabs, Iranians, Indonesians, Africans, as well as many immigrants from these cultures in Europe.

Christianity used to unite Europe and the Americas, but does so no longer. It's this, more than any other thing, that makes Islam such a mortal danger to the rest of the world.

Thanks in part to work of the acceptance of Theosophy and The "New Age" which resulted in the Final Solution.

Only this time it will be the biblical Christians whom are sacrificed - as mercy killings. Because they may have an "alien entity" which mistaken for the Holy Spirit.

Yes, but patriarchal society is not the oldest form of society. IT just arose during the agrarian and industrial age.

As society becomes less centralized in the Information Age, it's more natural to revert to the qualities of matriarchy, as we are doing.

Look at nations like you would look at people.

Old nations are like old people: Set in their ways, based on routine, change is hard, but can be weathered (hardly)

Young nations are hell-bent. They get a lot done in their youth, thriving on change, but then get tired and let go of of a lot of things that used to be important.

Sad truth is, not everyone lives to be old...

When you begin to hear phrases like, "too big to fail," "jobs that Americans won't do," "everyone is entitled to a home." "government bail-outs," to everyone except the main tax-payers, the middle class.

When a government becomes too secretive that is the beginning of tyranny. Terms like disintegrating economy, decadence, no borders, punishing entire groups of people for the sins and crimes of government.

When those who still hold that loyalty and duty mean something, and then are labeled as terrorist by their government.

When it costs 1 billion dollars to become president of the United States.

When parents don't parent.

We are past a sick culture, I think they're gonna kill America and Americans are going to let them.

The Trojan Horse has penetrated the walls. Apathy and political correctness let him in.

Washington is cancerous they all need to be dragged out by the hair of their heads. We should drug them and drag their sorry asses over the border into Mexico.

How interesting that the most atheistic nations in Europe are doing relatively fine and that atheistic nations in SE Asia such as China or Japan etc. will most likely recover better then the US.

So I really don't see the connection between forgetting god and that nation heading towards judgment.

I don't think it's any of the Government's business as to whether or not woman chooses to procure an abortion or a handgun.

A woman should not have to have the government's, or her husband's, or her boyfriend's, or anyone else's permission if she wants to make the choice to get an abortion or a firearm.

Forcing a woman to wait and take counseling before getting an abortion or a firearm is simply about control.

Do you agree with that, Astrogal50?

+1 - just look at some of the news various nights here on GLP: mother murders infant and eats its brains, father eats eyeballs of 5 yo son, pedophile priests & rabbis, father rapes 3 day old baby, etc.,etc.,etc.

I think it may be time to hit the reset button.
