Barbara shut that discussion down expertly. Imagine if she wasn't there, Whoopi could have come up with even more wacky theories, and people watching TV might have doubted the moon landings! It's very lucky that people like Barbara were there at the time to shout over the top of everybody about how real it was, so that people can continue to believe in the moon landings without having to listen to wacky conspiracy theories.

Barbara Walters, ABC News correspondent and creator and co-host of ABC's The View, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) at the 30th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards. The award will be presented on Sept. 21 in New York.

"NATAS is delighted to honor this very special woman," said Frank Radice, president of the Academy. "Barbara's career is a remarkable one with few in broadcast journalism coming close to matching it. Many years ago I worked as a field producer with Barbara at ABC News and I never saw anyone work as hard. She was, and continues to be, an inspiration."

It seems that Whoopi Goldberg actually cited the film Capricorn One, which depicted the faking of the first Mars landing, to buttress her belief. Oddly enough, Barbara Walters and not Elisabeth Hasselbeck was obliged to step in and inform Whoopi Goldberg of the error of her thinking.

Whoopi Goldberg must have also been thinking of her stint as an alien on the series Star Trek: The Next Generation.

It seems rather tiresome to even have to refute this kind of demented nonsense, but since Whoopi Goldberg is now the first Hollywood celebrity spokesperson for the We Never Went to the Moon movement, it seems like a good time to approach the matter from a Hollywood film making perspective.

Neil Armstrong, who knows certainly that we went to the Moon because he was there, said it best when he suggested that in the 1960s it would have been far more difficult to fake a Moon landing (six times!) than it would have been to actually do it. There was no computer graphic technology available at the time to make the "fake" Moon walks seem real.

You notice how Barbara Walters doesn't even bother to answer Whoopi's dumbass questions.

Anyone who says this is clearly sucking up to Hollywood, and approves of the deception.

Ordinary people do not spend a lot of time praising Hitler's charisma or Pol Pot's efficiency. When ordinary people consider the notion of a faked moon landing, they rightly speak in terms of fraud, crime, and putting culprits behind bars for the rest of their lives.

When someone instead praises hoaxers to the skies and proclaims that they would be the greatest craftsmen of all time, he clearly approves of their behavior and wants to protect them from the natural consequences of their horrific crime.

Yeah why do people come up with this BS argument that it would be more difficult to fake the moon landings than to go to the moon? Who cares about what would be more difficult, just say straight out whether you think they faked it or not.

It'd be more difficult for Michael Phelps to go to the Olympics and win 14 gold medals than for him to sit around smoking dope. But the relative difficulties of the actions doesn't tell you what actually happened!

A better indicator is to weigh the risks vs. the rewards. A hoax was clearly NASA's least risky alternative, and arguably the one with the biggest payoff as well. NASA was essentially faced with the choice of ending the Apollo program as a failure, or ending it as a "success."

Woopy Goldstein got what she deserved! She had it coming to her!
