They grow tobacco commercially in Canada. We once considered buying a farm in Minnesota that had a five acre USDA tobacco allotment. You can grow the stuff anywhere. It is a weed.
Quoting: htp,nli 686272 Tobacco "bases" have not been in acres since the early 70's so you must be talking about a really long time ago. In the 70's all USDA allotments were assigned in pounds. Then in '04 all the bases were bought out. Now it's all grown by contract and you can raise as much as you want. I don't know if tobacco can be grown in Canada but tobacco is a semi tropical plant that likes a lot of hot weather and a long growing season.
