my daughter to pay for her college app 400.00 took cake mixes, made asst'd cookies out of them - 5 per ziplock bag and walked the neighborhood selling them.

she is now making pepperoni rolls as we speak *this is a big thing in west virginia. (make bread dough, rise, punch down, roll out into 5 inch squares, amer cheese or hot pepper cheese - roll over to seal. bake) we're getting the pepperoni cheap 2/1.00 small bags or 18.95 for this monstrous bag dunno how many pounds but its a holy shit bag. sharp shopper in HBG is an excellent food outlet (normally like polly-o ricotta the 32oz is like 7.99-8.99 in the retail food chains, here they sell it for .99. no fukn lie)

you're kids are very lucky that you've inspired them in this way.
I have no drive because I was definitely not inspired. It was the opposite. I was told not to try.

Reading your comments is very motivational for me. I'm going to try to look into the driving idea first. I'll check the mvd to see if I need special insurance or licensing.
I'll do that tomorrow. Do you mind if I use this as an accountability thread and check back in?
I can see how there'd be a lot of seniors who need car rides and assistance to shop, or go to drs. appointments; and they couldn't get that extra assistance from phoning a taxi or a seniors bus service. There wouldn't be a startup fee. I'd get them to sign a waver before entering my service, in case of a car accident etc.

I think the special diet service I mentioned is too much for me to take on right now. I have to be practical and start with baby steps.
I can understand how putting a lot of money down isn't a good idea but some of these ideas don't have money down. Just some advertising flyers in the right locations. Where do you recommend me advertising for the seniors driving assistance?
maybe seniors lodges, seniors activity centers, hospitals?

This is almost a page out of an earlier day when people were more industrious and less inclined to follow the crowd.
What's so excellent about this is your example of the follow through... don't just do it penny-ante... go on and make a business out of it, then sell it!

I've done a lot of these things to earn temporarily, but never went the full mile. Uh huh... I'm taking notes this time. lol Already have a couple on the burner that I was about to cast aside out of boredom. Think I'll go on and take at least one to the next step because of inspiration found here!

for those who have a pickup truck, put it to good use. hauling.

many ppl do not have trucks. they cant haul shit to the dump. the HBG incinerator charges alot....200 a ton i think, minimum i think 50.00 or something. know your prices first.

charge the dump fee, add your fee. **metals take to the scrap yard for xtra cash. ppl always have mattresses and appliances to haul away. ***and you can contract in the cities too. the bad areas have a huge problem with garbage in alleys & streets.

***re appliances, contract for a local repairmen to sell him these appliances. some of these guys fix/re sell them. you can go to sears, lowes or wherever - these places usually pickup the old appliances when they deliver the new ones theyve sold. you in turn can sell them to these used places.

haul wood: ppl who sell firewood may not deliver. leave your name with them for their firewood customers.

use your truck to move ppl. build a moving business. no truck? rent one for 19.95 - some ppl do not have a bank acct or CC to get a rental nor anyone to help them move.

ok i know a demo/hauler that charges people to haul good stuff away (kind of like your cabinets deal earlier post OP)
you would be surprised what people throw away. Some people paid him to haul away a baby grand--the hauler needed to unload it quick because of storage so he got paid to pick it up and sold it for $250.00 He had lots of stories like that. Careful if you demo, its dangerous.

Phenomm, great thread. Could you please explain this one a little more?

You got used sell phones from free ads but bought the SIM cards from prepaid company vendors? I thought the phones are "locked" to the provider they came from? Did you unlock the phones, then buy a SIM card and sell it to customers?

I'm not sure if I'm asking the right questions here. I don't know enough to understand exactly what you're saying. Could you flesh it out a bit?

if you have a motorola boost used cell phone; use boost cards.

the contract phones - alot of them can be used as pays - most are unlocked, some arent but a call to the provider can possibly switch it. we had a verizon pay in 05 for one of the kids, and when he went off on his own i wasnt gonna keep him on the contract so verizon switched his phone to the paygo/cards. my friend works for ATT here. when they were cingular you could do this, im pretty sure the ATT phones do but you'd have to check. paygo phones ppl give away on freecycle alot.

ha..cool! I never even thought of using old phones as pay go phones. We had the latest/greatest cells for years before the novelty wore off and we noticed that we didn't use cells for that much. So I converted to paygo's and have saved a small fortune with virtually no difference in service.

But the phones are chintzy, and I really liked some of our older full featured phones. Thanks for this idea. We do some charity work with the local homeless, and one of the biggest problems they have getting a job is no phone. We happen to have an "in" for used phones and this could be an answer for some local needs. Thanks again.
