I suppose if you tried to find it, they would feed you some bs that it is contaminated with mercury, and so it has to be processed, and while we are processing it, we kick up the vitamin A, and take out most of the vitamin D. Did you know, that beta-carotene, Vitamn A, INCREASES your risk of lung cancer? "a lung cancer chemoprevention study that provided subjects with supplements of 30 mg beta-carotene and 25,000 IU retinyl palmitate (a form of vitamin A) or a placebo. This study was stopped after researchers discovered that subjects receiving beta-carotene had a 46% higher risk of dying from lung cancer [36-37]." |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 265891 United States 05/20/2009 10:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | IMO: If you take a vitamin D supplement, it needs to be D-3, and probably way more than the 400 IU "recommended dose". My experience: My doctor tested me 14 months ago, and while 30 something is normal, I was 19. She put me on 50,000 IU once a week for 12 weeks, then I continued with 1,000 or 2,000 IU virtually every day for a year, but wasn't able to get much sunshine. After a year, I'd dropped to 16! So now I'm taking the Carlson's drops, 6,000 IU/day as recommended by a natural pharmacist, and will be retested in another month. It's still hard to get much sun with my work schedule, but I'm trying to get out sometime each day. (And I am over 50.) |

In the EARLY 1930s, when vitamines were first being recognized/discovered, it was found that vitamine D helped with a "disease" called rickets ( actually from lack of D ). They decided to force milk companies to add vitamine D to milk to stop 'rickets', or poor bone formation in children. HOWEVER, at the time they did NOT KNOW there were FOUR D vitamines, D1, D2, D3 and D4. By shere accident (?) they picked D3 to add to milk, and it is the ONLY D vitamine that humans CAN'T absorb into their bodies. It has NEVER BEEN CHANGED ! Getting your daily recommended dosage of vitamin D is relatively easy. Just 10-15 minutes of daily sunlight can provide you with the needed supply of this vitamin. People under the age of 50 should get 200-400 IU's of vitamin D per day. If you're over 50 you should strive for 400-600 IU's per day and those over 70 should be getting about 800 IU's. One glass of milk, gives you 100 iu. So how many glasses of milk do you need to drink to get your normal healthy day in the sun level of vitamin D? 20,000 / 100 you need to drink 200 glasses of milk per day. You will die by noon, from that much milk, before you get to 30 glasses. And milk is really really not good for you at all. It is contaminated by all sorts of chemicals and resistant bacteria. They have messed with cows, until the cows came home with hormones and antibiotics. |

It's just another type of alcohol to deal with. plus a gallon of milk will only give you about a 1000IU. meanwhile just half an hour in the sun gives you at least 15,000IU. |

"One small study of nine healthy individuals in Sweden found that the amount of vitamin A in one serving of liver may impair the ability of vitamin D to promote calcium absorption [43]. To further test the association between excess dietary intakes of vitamin A and increased risk for hip fractures," "A longitudinal study in more than 2,000 Swedish men compared blood levels of retinol to the incidence of fractures in men. The investigators found that the risk of fractures was greatest in men with the highest blood levels of retinol (more than 75 mcg per deciliter [dL]). Men with blood retinol levels in the 99th percentile (greater than 103 mcg per dL) had an overall risk of fracture that exceeded the risk among men with lower levels of retinol by a factor of seven [46]. The number of pills you have to take every day is in parentheses following each product's name." 400 iu of vitmain D, is not enough vitamin D, you get 20,000 iu from one day of sunshine. And do you see how much cancer causing beta-carotene is in there? Studies which show you need more vitamin D have been attacked. But below the governments recommendation for supplements, they state, recent studies have shown these levels may not be high enough, and the maximum allowable dosage may be too low. The pharmaceutical companies want you to get sick. That is how they make their living. The pressure the industry and question all results, and have their tobacco style puppets in the medical profession, to dispute all results that show, vitamin D needs to be increased. All the while promoting vitamin A which blocks vitamin D. |

[link to www.denvernaturopathic.com] This was a "natural cure" that was in most homes between 1915-1930 What finally convinced the public that this was not healthy thing to do was when several individual using it HAD THEIR JAWS ROT AWAY AND FALL OFF....they went on a national tour to towns across the nation to show people how dangerous it was. |
