The final pickup truck rolled off the assembly line around the lunch hour, closing a long and proud chapter of the biggest auto manufacturer in Canada. Union officials said workers assembling the final truck had tears rolling down their faces. The closing means the elimination of 2,600 jobs. That will leave General Motors in Oshawa with just 3,800 workers, down from a high of 18,000 in the 1980's.
