Amazing Video: Citizens Conquer Military Base Without Violence
Watching this video, I could hardly believe what I was seeing. But this bloodless conquest is genuine, shocking as that may be, and stands as a testament to what the people of any nation could do, including the American people.

Freedom from oppression simply by casually walking up and taking it. Victory has never come at so low a cost, and Liberty never so easy to obtain.

I believe this can happen.

People just have to start working together and stop with the doom.

It is getting late in the game.

It’s silly to equate that military base with one in North America. That didn’t look like a professional military to me…and that base was…well not what I would call a base. I am not going to try to speculate on what exactly would happen here…but there are non-lethal methods to disperse a mob.

You're right, those soldiers are very different from what you'd find on a USMC base. But you're not considering that even had that base been outfitted with American Marines, the result would have been much the same. Sure that commander wouldn't have hastily retreated to the rear of the ranks of his men like he did, and those soldiers would've maintained discipline and dignity. In the end though, looking over that horde of well motivated men and women stretching all the way out to the very horizon itself, even the most arrogant of USMC colonels would have realized that this isn't a battle that he's in a position to win. If he ordered his men to fire on the rebelling citizens, it would be a bluff and a gamble: They have neither the manpower nor ammunition to maintain a foothold and would be relying entirely on the crowd fleeing. But the odds weren't in favor of that. There were too many, packed too tightly - many of them would have nowhere to go but forward - toward the soldiers.

What's more: Many of them would call that bluff, and would rush forward to attack. Aside from that, a massacre would create martyrs and would guarantee the situation became far worse very quickly. And that's not to mention that many soldiers would hesitate if fire at all, unwilling to slaughter their countrymen - their brothers and sisters. Particularly considering they too realize that saying they're outnumbered is quite the understatement, and the probability of them surviving such a conflict may be very low. Everyone experiences fear and intimidation.

Be it a Mexican or an American base, it wasn't only going to fall into enemy hands no matter what - it already had.

And no, not every military installation has non lethal weapons, and even had they used said weapons it would be much the same gamble. You don't engage any "enemy" under such circumstances.

No doubt. The Zapatista's are an abused, suffering people with a noble cause. In the faces of the soldiers you could see intense fear, admiration and shame on all of them. At the end you even saw one of them staring at the ground, unable to look them in the eyes. To be the oppressor faced with being at the mercy of the oppressed is undoubtedly a humbling experience. Especially when they do show you mercy.

But you'd see much the same sentiment among American and other nations soldiers if faced with the same.

You also don’t surrender your base and assets to a mob. I would assume that most bases here have non-lethal methods on hand at all times. I couldn’t see any situation like that here (where I live). I don’t see any crowd getting that close to the gates. It would be ugly as hell…and maybe some would toss down their weapons…but there is no way they would surrender the base. Anyway…its all speculation….it didn’t happen here and no idea what the back story for the video was.

Well then the US government is very lucky that you're not an officer in their military. Resisting a "mob" which which is that large and that determined would result in a spectacular bloodbath like never seen on American soil since the Civil War. If we assume the crowd flees in cowardice, then at best you end up with the US becoming extremely destabilized, rioting in half of the major cities across America, and critical collapse of support for the US government, military and law enforcement.

If the soldiers manage to hold their ground, and that's a big if, then you'll have put the United States on a path which far surpasses what the police caused with Rodney King or what you saw in Italy a few months ago - which was over the death of one individual mind you.

You'll have not only lost containment of that single installation, but possibly of the entire country itself. But you go right ahead and order you're handful of soldiers to engage those thousands upon thousands of citizens which look just like every Americans brother, neighbor and best friend.

Losing one base for a short period of time is nothing compared to the hell you will have brought upon the government you serve, and the soldiers you serve with.
