When someone sneezes, spraying an area with their snot, and the virus is in that snot - of course you'll be infected if you get any of it on you. Every contagion meets that "qualification." In reality though, it's transferring person-to-person by physical contact. That is, bodily fluids. Nope. I'm afraid you guys have been had. |

Pretty sure that the vast majority of those people's immune systems aren't any more compromised than the average persons. They're regular people wearing those masks because they're dumb and actually believe it's airborne even though it clearly isn't. Not because they could easily be killed by a cold virus. I'm not regarding those who have significant health problems and have a legitimate need for the masks. Last Edited by Fawkes on 05/04/2009 10:16 PM |

But even though myriad news and medical reports have stated that this virus is less severe than what's seen in the typical flu season, most seem to still believe their paranoia is justified. I mean this has been going on for a month, statistically speaking, if this were as severe as only the typical flu season then you'd have thousands dead by now. But only a handful have died, and all of them suffering from compromised immune systems and/or other inflictions. And then of course when people finally started realizing that, they were told "well it might eventually combine with another virus and become a super bug!" Yet...every virus has that potential - Swine Flu no more than the others. Must be a lotta guys back at WHO and the corporation producing TamiFlu laughing their asses off right about now. |

The probability of you contracting the ailment is remote and even if you did all you'd end up with is a mild flu not unlike what you've experienced many times in your life. Even in Mexico City - they have a population of 28 million or so and less a thousand have been infected there. But the brain is just a biological computer - easily manipulated, easily programmed. Yes I have 2 n95's like I said before...The virus comes from droplets...these masks will make it difficult for the droplets to permeate the mask and therefore offer at least some protection....If a person with the flu sneezes in your face...are you wanting to wear my mask or do you want to go commando? |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 672275 Portugal 05/05/2009 11:50 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You do realize it's not airborne, right? Quoting: BoomerThe Department of Health (DOH) clarified Wednesday that the dreaded swine flu virus that has been causing deaths in Mexico and infecting others in different countries is not airborne. [link to www.sunstar.com.ph] The H1N1 flu virus is spread from person to person usually through respiratory droplets, from someone that is coughing or sneezing. Influenza is not airborne. [link to www.vancouversun.com] "Swine flu isn't airborne," [link to worldblog.msnbc.msn.com] Fuck all this flu subject, but do you realize that those masks ARE ONLY useful on situations where the virus is not transmitted airborne but through "respiratory droplets, from someone that is coughing or sneezing"? |

The government and media knows that well, so I suppose it's not your fault. Bite me! BTW: I actually know people that could die from the common cold due to cancer treatment damage. It's not funny. Also, consider MRSA. I know of a couple people in my family that have it. Once you have it you don't get rid of it. Healthy, 25 year old guy caught it in the bathroom at his work and lost his thumb over it. Also, there are only about 2 cases of anthrax anually in the U.S., but someone else in family was once one of those two. This stuff that is supposed to be so hard to catch and like lightening strikes seems to strike too often for my comfort lately. The germs are fighting back. It's only going to get worse.
