The Supreme Court has acknowledged that the concept of "Freedom of Movement" is closely related to the Constitutionally protected rights to Freedom of Association and Freedom of Expression, and thus has ruled in favor of Freedom of Movement as an intended right. While it could be argued that the Federal government has already criminally "nullified" Freedom of Movement, Association and Expression with Free Speech Zones, mandatory TSA checks at transportation hubs (airports, etc) - it still must be noted that forcefully restricting an individuals movement is by definition "arrest." This suggests the revocation of Constitutionally guaranteed rights, or in other words, a discontinuation of civil law. The suspension of Constitutional Law, officially or unofficially, doesn't necessitate military rule, so isn't necessarily Martial Law per sey, sure. But I believe you understand what's being implied. |

Frank Singleton, Lowell's Health Director says its no longer a drill, they are preparing for the real thing. Quoting: Boomer... The legislation gives the MA Public Health Commissioner the discretion to respond to an outbreak like the kind going on in Mexico - to close or evacuate buildings, enter private property, isolate or quarantine people, and to get and distribute meds and vaccines. A registry of MA volunteers would be created and would be activated in case of emergency. ... If people do not follow the emergency declaration, such as a quarantine order, they could face up to 30 days in prison, and a fine of up to $1000 a day. [link to www.necn.com] Hell. Senate approves pandemic flu bill with quarantine powers --New Senate version allows public health commissioner to close or evacuate buildings, enter private property for investigations, and quarantine individuals --Measure requires registry for volunteers to be activated in emergency 28 Apr 2009 The Massachusetts Senate has unanimously passed a pandemic flu preparation bill that has languished in the Legislature before the recent swine flu outbreak. The 36-0 vote today sends the measure to the House. The new Senate version would allow the public health commissioner -- in a public health emergency -- to close or evacuate buildings, enter private property for investigations, and quarantine individuals. The measure also requires a registry for volunteers that would be activated in an emergency and establishes fines of up to $1,000 for not complying with local public health orders." |

You should be shot! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 668554You do realize this so-called swine flu isn't even dangerous realistically, yes? It causes no more deaths than any other common flu and only rarely is terribly bad. You might as well shoot everyone who goes to work or grocery shopping while sick. Besides, they weren't talking about just a fine. They threatened imprisonment too, and they likely didn't cite every option they were willing to use under such circumstances. When dealing with the public, you sugar coat everything. But yeah good job supporting fascism and forgoing the use of reason. |

The government is getting way out of hand with this flu and possible martial law. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 668546Like I've pointed out several times on these forums, this same situation occurred with the 1976 "swine flu." Made a few people sick, killed one American, and the government called it a pandemic. They fear mongered as best they knew how, distributed a vaccine with a mandate to administer it to every man, woman and child in America - and it turned out the swine flu wasn't even a big deal. In fact, the vaccine itself was far more dangerous than the ailment it was supposed to protect against. Had such side effects as paralysis and death, and who knows what else it caused which nobody ever realized. Now of course we hear that the gov may have a vaccine for this latest installment of swine flu hysteria. Ironically though, it's stated that unless this swine flu mutates significantly it won't be a threat (obvious) - that's where all this "second wave" talk comes from. Yet any vaccine would only be useful for the present incarnation. You'd have to know what it'll become in order to protect against it, and as far as I know we haven't traveled to the future to make that determination. So you tell me where the logic is there. At least Alex Jones is listening. |

(OP) User ID: 572199 United States 04/30/2009 07:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | They're preparing the public for mass vaccination too. I've noticed various news outlets interviewing doctors, where these doctors mention the 1976 ordeal. But these doctors all seem intent on rewriting history, claiming the mass inoculation is why it didn't become some scary black plague. That's even though it was commonly realized and accepted that the reality is the swine flu was never dangerous, and either the government was incompetant in its rationalization or was hoaxing. But the conclusion that the virus wasn't a danger was definitive, backed by scientific study shortly after the incident. Swine Flu Scare 2 is coming from the same media and government which tried to claim that Bird Flu and SARS would be the end of us all, even though neither were ever a threat. And in all those cases as well as this one, it's blatantly obvious. But don't let that keep you from running from every mosquito you see, fearing the horribly frightening West Nile virus.
