Know a local Sheriff who will fax the order on their letterhead, pay with a personal credit card, and have the box shipped to him and you go pick it up. At least I was told that's how it's done. Oops did I say that. :>) Don't get caught with it though might be a Federal beef. I was going to ask my FIL (Father in law) for help getting set up with a semi-mobile ham rig. He's a lifelong ham operator & broadcast engineer and I want a ham rig that is semi-portable, maybe with an external amp. Great info! copying and saving. |

For instance: [link to www.grove-ent.com] If you simply want a good SW/HF receiver, you can get one on Ebay for less than $100. I have two Grundig Yachtboy PE400 units which I paid less than $100/each new. Covers longwave, AM, FM, Shortwave-AM and SSB modes. (SSB or single sideband are those voice transmissions which sound like Donald Duck). Be sure the receiver you buy has digital readout/tuning so you can make sure you are tuning to the EXACT frequency you wish to listen to. If you buy an analog receiver (has the sliderule type tuner display) you will not be able to tune as accurately. |
