We hear of Obama passing legislation(I think they vote today actually on this) of hate crimes not being tolerable and they will prosecute those who do... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 660008Now you may argue that she would not have won Miss America, even had she lied and gone away from her biblical values on the "Gay Marriage" subject... But doesn't this you tube video(Perez) and what he called her, after being one of the 12 judges in the contest, PROVE this to be a hate crime? I think we can all agree, that if this were turned around the other way and some straight judge made a you tube video calling someone all the words many have ever called a gay person...would probably be fired, fined or even prosecuted...wouldn't you agree? Your thoughts? where does this kind of thought stop? hate crime? you're drinking too much kool-aide. now we've gotten to the point that insulting someone, calling them names is a hate crime... a hate crime? really? we are doomed as a country for sure, especially if our country has a collectively low enough I.Q. to believe insulting and name calling is now a hate crime... doomed... |

Not that some lawyer won't try to file a civil discrimination suit anyway. They probably will. You can sue anyone for anything, but there has to be an actual crime at the core of a hate crime charge. Any subsequent insults are covered under free speech, thankfully. Not that I agree with anyone being called the C-word, but allowing it is healthy. The debate has been sparked and both parties can be aptly judged for what they've said. As an extreme, if a contestant were part of the KKK and said they did not think minorities should be able to eat at the same lunch counter as whites, it would be within the JUDGEs' control to vote accordingly. |

I agree with you,but if the tables are turned...then the backlash would be overwhelming.. the point i have been trying to make in all this...There are double standards I think the "hate" crimes are stupid as well..like you But if a straight judge asks a girl the same question and she says that she has always believed in "same sex" marriage, then has points deducted from her score card, then the judge goes on you tube and calls the girl a lesbo and every gay derogatory word in the book......This judge is sitting in county jail, fired, fined or all 3!! That's my point! But this only applies for the gay community I guess... |
