Mexico will just end up annexing Texas or at least half of it once it secedes.

If just 1 in 23 people owns a gun, that's 1,000,000 armed citizens. This is Texas though and it's likely that the number of gun owners exceeds 1 in 23 people. The ones with multiple guns probably have a circle of friends who they would also share guns with. Born and raised Texans wouldn't think twice about shooting and killing a Mexican Invader in such a circumstance.
