NOW they Quoting: DrPostmanwant to move the oil? What the hell is it doing near a volcano, dormant or otherwise, in the first place? They couldn't build the tanks on seismic fault lines, because all those sites are already taken by nukular reactors. |

hatch battener User ID: 649037 United States 04/03/2009 04:47 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Quoting: Anonymous Coward 648269 From that link- "Volcanic eruption/flooding. Mount Redoubt initially erupted on March 22, 2009 at 10:38 PM, followed by several other eruptions. The resultant lahars (or volcanic mudflows) caused extensive flooding at the Drift River Terminal. However, no oil or hazardous substance releases have been reported at this time." So there is already "extensive flooding" in the oil facility that holds 6.3 million gallons of oil. The Exxon Valdez spilled 10.9 gallons of oil. Since the oil facility is slightly inland, it possibly could pose even more problems than the Exxon Valdez, this could be a major ecological disaster in the making. |

I DJ and just did a radio show devoted to appeasing it.... [link to web.me.com] Just click on shows..... I'd rather be scourged than listen to George. We feel your pain at The "OFFICIAL" George Noory Sucks Thread. |

Quoting: hatch battener 649037Well doing the math on your figures there, this could be over five hundred thousand times worse! There sure was a lot of complaining about Exxon Valdez, considering it was under 11 gallons of oil spilled. You'd think they'd just clean it up and not worry about it. |
hatch battener User ID: 649037 United States 04/03/2009 06:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | But ya know what, the Exxon Valdez didn't have a giant rumbling volcana spewing untold tons of ash and gigantic chunks of flying flaming debris. This could certainly rank up there with the Exxon Valdez. I hope Sarah Palin's disaster plans are ready. |

Quoting: DrPostmanTry 10.8 million US gallons, not 11. Nope, here's what hatch battener said: "The Exxon Valdez spilled 10.9 gallons of oil." Doesn't seem like a big deal really! |

NOW they Quoting: DrPostmanwant to move the oil? What the hell is it doing near a volcano, dormant or otherwise, in the first place? They had to wait until the volcanic eruptions subsided. Redoubt has formed a lava dome and the quieted down for the moment. For some insane reason, Chevron was the original company that placed the oil facility at the base of a volcano. Go figure. |

Redtailhawk User ID: 509729 United States 04/03/2009 09:38 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Uhh,don`t yall remember, the Oil companies LOVE to take advantage of natural disasters--I would bet that SOMEHOW this jillion gallons of oil gets lost, spoiled, or otherwise damaged just in time for spring/summer consumption- any excuse to scream shortage and run prices back up. Why? because they can, and there`s not a damn thing we can do to stop them. |
