And therefore ginger sugar. I tried those. Luckily I was mixing up ginger water, honey, pinch of salt, pinch of baking soda. The doc said that is what really helped me. That I kept trying to drink something with glucose or sugar - even if it didn't stay down. Otherwise - I probably would have been hooked to an IV. ICK Personal responsibility - try it sometime. (OP) User ID: 515273 United States 03/07/2009 10:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | By the way there is no such thing as a stomach flu. The flue is a respiratory virus and has nothing to do with your stomach. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 623547I know - but alot of people call it a tummy flu. Gastroenteritis (sp?) or some kind of virus. Believe me it is accompanied by the the major headache, body aches etc. Personal responsibility - try it sometime. Quit blaming others for your bad choices. Consequences happen. :enaid11: |

The Day After
User ID: 626501 United States 03/07/2009 10:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | get keefir or a long acting yogurt and drink a pint. the way to find a long acting yogurt is to look at the expiration date. If it is good more than two weeks, drink the pint. It will reset your digestive tract, but you have to find the right pint of enzymes. Wish you the best... TDA |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 604395 United States 03/08/2009 12:36 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm in med school. 12 day stomach virus? Wow, that's intense. Typically, gastroenteritis lasts 48-72 hours. That is amazing. I had problems as a child with GERD and I still have it, but I had an endoscopy when I was little. I would get a stomach virus other children would get over in 48 hours for a week, and I had to go to the hospital a few times to get an IV. But, for the typical person to have a 12 day virus? That is unreal. I wonder (because I'm a conspiracy theorist) if TPTB have scientists manipulating viruses. Because, in the office I currently work in (while I'm in school), everyone is sick. Many patients are returning weeks later still sick. The odd thing is, they're viruses. So, obviously antibiotics won't cure it. I understand things like drug resistant TB, since people not finishing antibiotics leave the strongest strains of the virus unaffected, and they evolve. Even though it is dormant in the carrier for the time being, the bacteria are stronger than ever, and thus multiply into a stronger disease than current treatments can cure. At least, on a large scale. But VIRUSES? Did you have a high fever, or any other symptoms secondary to the nausea OP? |
