Serenity and (Firefly)
Ok, tonight I bought the Prequel to Serenity (graphic novel) and the movie Serenity.

I have not watched it yet, but read the wiki and have perused the graphic novel.

So, I watch the trailer for the movie and the very last thing said in the trailer is "You Can't Stop the Signal"

So, no I am piqued, as I won't be able to watch the movie tonight, what is "The Signal" they are refering to in the movie? Anybody seen it, it isn't a new movie.

Re: Serenity and (Firefly)
The signal has to do with a subliminal command built into the communications systems that is used to trigger River's hidden abilities, so to speak.

I won't say anymore, but I would suggest watching the entire series before watching the movie, it really is one of the best sci-fi series available, and Serenity will make much more sense if you watch Firefly first.

You can watch every episode of Firefly at Hulu.

Here's the link:

BTW the signal is just a interplanetary communication beacon - all TV, news, etc. The subliminal messages the above poster mentioned are embedded in it.

As a grey beard, I've watched almost every Sci-Fi movie that's been produced. This series, and its movie, get my vote as the best. Star War's is high on the list, but this tops that series.

It is pretty awesome. I love the women on this show. I was always wrought over Kaylee or Inara, the old Mary Anne or Ginger argument.

And yea, I would definitely watch the series before the movie.

Re: Serenity and (Firefly)
Yeah, Firefly was ahead of its time. Excellent show and like others said, do watch the series first...
Enjoy! If you like sci-fi, you're in for a treat!
