Insight into the Python Spirit

All year long I have been preaching about breaking the power of the Python Spirit. This comes out of the concept that 2008 has been a year to possess the gates. In Ezekiel 46:2 it talks of how the prince will stand in the threshold of the gate and worship....this word threshold is the Hebrew word miphtan which comes from the root word pehthen which means a twisting or constricting snake.....a "python". I have focused on breaking the power of this spirit of constriction off of our finances, visions, health, etc. I also likened this spirit to a spirit of deception as one time when I was praying about it I saw the python snake character from the Jungle Book...who had mesmerizing eyes and put Moguli under a spell.

Around April I was getting ready to travel to a conference and was sitting in an airport asking the Lord if I was done with the assignment of dealing with Python. I had just purchased a USA today newspaper which was sitting on my lap. When I asked the Lord that question I flipped the paper over and on the bottom half of the front page there was a picture of a python snake with the headlines "Pythons Have Us In Their Grasp". It was an article about how people have bought these snakes as pets, but when they get too big they let them go. Now there are so many in the wild they are reproducing and colonizing in the US. I felt I was to continue dealing with this spirit throughout the year.

I may have just learned why. Recently, after addressing this spirit in a message at CFNI a woman from Kenya came up to me to inform me that the tribe Obama comes from in Africa (the Luo) uses the python as its symbol and worships it as its god. I did some research to verify this. This is in fact the tribe and the region which Obama Sr. came from. What I found was very interesting. The name of this spirit is Omieri and the people of the region have been working to "harness the power of the python spirit" since it's re-emergence in 2003 (one year before Obama's election as a senator and before his famous speech at the DNC). Omieri is credited with being the one who sends the rain which can make you rich, and with political and ecomonic transformation. He tends to show up at election times bringing "moments of great hope." Anyhow, I felt that we needed to pray to break the influence of this spirit in our nation and over this election. I do not have a prophetic word on who WILL be president; however, I believe we need to continue to stand for righteousness, the unborn, and putting life and morality-loving judges on the supreme court. There is demonic deception that is drawing people into an ungodly political agenda, we must pray against this influence over the people of the USA, our media and our election process.
