THE OFFICIAL HALLOWEEN THREAD#2 (Topic: Vampires)

Vampires are so oversold today that I think very few people would have a problem believing that they are real, if only they would stop dressing in lace....

Seriously however, in the last twenty years, thanks to fiction like Anne Rice's Vampire series and ten thousand other titles featuring vampires, as well as the famous (and now infamous) Vampire the Masquerade roll playing game, the world of Vampires has all but exploded upon us!

If I seem a little jaded in the particular thread, well, I am!

For every site I found with people talking about real Vampires, there were three that spoke of vampires in fiction and five telling me all about “Vampire Lifestylers”. From what I can determine a Vampire life style involves wearing a bad Dracula get up while cutting on your friends so you can lick the blood that seeps out. (EEEEEEHHHWWWWWW!)

The worst part of this however is their almost pathological insistence that this behavior means they are “REAL” Vampires! (But boy do they get ticked off if you ask about there super powers! Extra strength, super speed? Not for these folks! For them it's all about the black mascara I gather.) (O.K. Thats a little mean, about the mascara, but no super powers to speak of.)

It is all about the Vampire life style.

(I keep having visions of the broody geeky guy from the school band that sat in the back row and refused to practice.... “I'm, like a Vampire, because I wear black and like, want to be all bad and stuff...”)

Fortunately, there is a little more material to work from if you keep digging.

I don't know about you, but when I look for a Vampire, I want some kind of Super abilities to back up that claim! Long life, mind powers...Something!

Here is a great site for learning at least what one woman claims is a good bit about REAL vampires and what they can and can't do!

The wording is a little pretentious at times, but heck, she has super powers and super contacts with the undead! That's got to count for something!

Of course, if we are going to even pretend that real Vampires exist we must make room for the Hunters!

*There is a thin, thin line between hunting the real undead and going around like a loon stabbing ordinary people in the heart with a sharpened stick! Be very wary of these people, because this I can guarantee you, REAL Vampire hunters exist, regardless of your belief in The Vampires themselves!

And finally for now a link given to me last night in regards to Zombies. I think that this site either proves that Vampires and Zombies are Real, or the dangers of allowing just anyone to access the INTERNET.
