Does Your Pointer Move When Your Fingers Aren't On the Mouse Pad?
Does anyone else experience this? I have a MacBook. The pointer sometimes starts moving erratically after I've taken my fingers off the pad. A guy in computers once told me that it means people are hacking into your system. Not sure if I believe this. I think it's just a computer glitch.

Re: Does Your Pointer Move When Your Fingers Aren't On the Mouse Pad?
Are you using a mouse that uses small lasers to determine x-y axis movement? If so, sometimes direct sunlight onto the mouse can cause erratic behavior. It had puzzled me once. Until I realize shielding the sun light stopped the issue.

No, it's a notebook with the pad built directly in it, and I'm sitting in a mostly dark room with only the light of a lamp about 7 feet away from me. I took my hand off the mouse about 30 minutes ago, and the pointer started moving all over the screen. I'm wondering if maybe it's a Mac glitch.

Ya

Two of mine move when I am not touching them

One is optical mouse in room with controlled light.
Other is mechanical mouse in same room, same desk.
Room with four computers/ but only the two that go online have the moving mouse syndrome.

My dial-up speed also varies.
Faster when I go days without criticizing NWo
Slower when I have recently criticized NWO.

Disconnected often while trying to post criticism of either Bush or Obama.

Four computers?! Wow!

So you obviously don't think it's a glitch. Interesting...

Why would that solve the problem? It seems totally unrelated.

Trust me, I would go into detail but I don't want to trigger Big Brother GLP's stupid ass auto ban system. But if you just google your issue here, you will find a mountain of good info about what I am hinting about to you and ways to solve the problem. Sometimes, all it takes is a full system scan to destroy the problem and then raising your firewall level so it can't happen again.

Just a bit of advice: Be very wary of trusting nondescript free software downloads. It's better to go with something recommended for your system that you pay your annual/bi-annual fee to maintain.

Re: Does Your Pointer Move When Your Fingers Aren't On the Mouse Pad?
wow nobody mentioned the obvious solution to your problem.

Problem, mousepad sensitivity. Sometimes old touchpads (and even old laser mice) get dirty or used very often, and are susceptible to random jumps. These are usually small movements towards one corner of the screen with your pointer.

For laser mice you can simply clean out the area around the laser, removing dust/dirt particles, usually does the trick.

For a touchpad (what I believe you are describing you have), clean it well, all around the corners with a cotton swab, see if you can get any gunk thats underneath the plastic.

If this doesn't do the trick its likely your touchpad has a bad sensor, or is too sensitive. Consider turning down the sensitivity of the touchpad. Or taking it into a shop to get cleaned out from the inside out. They have to disassemble the laptop to get to that part. They may even be able to replace the whole touchpad.

But if you want my best advice.

Turn off the touchpad, plug in a USB mouse. problem solved.
