Several other things were pretty obvious also, such as the imagery presented by the "throne-like" creation. To my eye that smacks of absolutist theological monarchy with all its assembled heirarchy of authoritarian dominion. For the church you can understand that pretense in a sense, but where is God Almighty in that scheme? Somewhere out of sight, out of mind by temporal necessity no doubt. Plebeians have no clue about that other reality. Also, the "council of state" you see [bishops and arch-bishops, etc.] reminded me of a mafia convention especially with the dark glasses effect. Maybe those old guys just had poor eyesight and/or don't especially fancy the bright lights so much. But where are the women of the church? Ave Maria indeed. Wasn't Mary the earthly one who started the whole affair? So let's be serious.


One other thing... This event struck me as something which came across as a from of ritalistic worship of the "earthly throne" and the guys who surrounded it, all trussed up in their authoritarian finery as they gaped at poor Kelly serving up her purpose for the day in ritual fashion. What were they really thinking, those jaded old geezers? Once again, the penis motif hanging above the pope makes you wonder what their object mostly was.
