Anonymous Coward User ID: 84912974 United States 03/28/2024 05:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There is more to this story we don't know yet. It don't know how it works in the shipping industry, but facilities with these systems go through auditing constantly. Generators are exercised regularly and UPS systems checked out. Shit does happen. If you have a crew of idiots, or even a few weak links, shit can happen. But...I don't know. |

Quoting: Tonight We Ride! Another coincidence. CIA and FBI baffled. https://twitter.com/_/status/1773407414760374548 [link to twitter.com (secure)] Former captain for 45 years of these type vessels was on FOX and he discussed what happens when one of these lose power...one of the things when they lose power is for the data recorder to stop recording. Apparently this are not any high tech recorders like airplanes have and have limited data anyway. He also discussed how all cargo vessels use the most unrefined and dirty fuel possible in order to save money on their long voyages. He said the stuff is so dirty it has to be run through heaters before utilized by the engines. He also said momentary loss of power because of this dirty fuel is NOT uncommon, it's just that it usually happens when they are in the middle of the ocean and not a problem. Take it for what it's worth but he seemed very knowledgeable... Ask Alice when she's 10ft tall This is a battle for the future of civilization. Anonymous Coward User ID: 66595947 New Zealand 03/28/2024 05:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | For merchant shipping, the Voyage Data Recorder (VDR), often likened to an airplane's black box, plays a crucial role in maintaining safety and operational integrity. It records various data, such as the ship's position, movements, and other vital information, which is essential for investigating accidents and improving future safety measures. The VDR system includes maintenance requirements, such as routine checks of cables and connections, with the battery typically needing replacement every four years. The system's redundancy and backup capabilities are essential for ensuring that data recording continues uninterrupted, even in the event of a power failure . In the broader context of ensuring electrical redundancy and backup power supplies for critical systems like VDRs on ships, the concept of redundancy in engineering is key. Redundancy ensures that a process or system has backup components so that if a primary component fails, the backup can take over without interrupting the operation. This is particularly important for facilities requiring constant power, like hospitals, but also applies to shipping. Generators serve as a redundant power supply, stepping in automatically during a power failure to ensure that critical systems continue functioning. Backup generators are tested rigorously to meet high standards, ensuring reliability and a long service life, which underscores the importance of having a dependable redundant power system onboard ships to support critical equipment such as VDRs . These insights emphasize the importance of both routine maintenance and the implementation of robust redundant power systems to ensure the safety and reliability of merchant shipping operations. |

User ID: 80365094 United States 03/28/2024 06:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Any country or group could have been behind this but one thing for sure, it was deliberate. Check this out Clayton Diamond, executive director of the American Pilots Association, "confirmed earlier news reports that the ship had a “complete blackout” and lost power to its engine and navigation equipment a few minutes before the collision. It never regained power, and drifted into the support column!" LINK - [link to www.baltimoresun.com (secure)] What a bunch of BS. We all saw the videos of this thing blacked out, regain power, do a U-Turn, Cranked throttle "Full" then slam into the bridge Check out all the companies tied with the Dali: "Maersk Line Limited" - Owner, a Danish company "Grace Ocean Pte. Ltd" - Spokesperson for Maersk based out of Singapore "Apostleship of the Sea" - a Catholic group that 'assisted the crew' while docked in port over the weekend "The National Transportation Safety Board" who is run by a Biden appointed woman named Jennifer Homendy. She is in charge of investigating the collision (with assistance from the Coast Guard). The probe by TNTSB will examine problems with the ship’s power, its structure, and design, according to Jennifer. (I'm sure Jennifer has a ton of experience welding, wiring, and picking engineers to do this kind of work on sea vessels i.e., she does what she's told for $$)... So basically, we have a Biden appointed woman named Jennifer Homendy making decisions for the entire country regarding what happened, why it happened, who did it and how. Regardless the outcome we could be looking at major issues and collapses within the USA. This type of investigation should be done by the NAVY and ship building companies Now the black box was turned off :/ Go Get'em Jennifer! There are redundancies for steering. It never should have hot the bridge in clear conditions. Someone or something disabled that craft. Intentionally. Exactly. It was an INTENTIONAL act, no question in my mind about it. |
