According the IRS calculator on their website, our check was going to be $1800 but the letter that we received said it would only be $900. What, its probably been about a month or two ago. Quoting: SickscentI was a very happy camper. Dont mean to be nosey, but what income avg. do you fall under? I think they are doing this to the low income families. |

I don't think you have been singled out. The gov is methodical and tends to do things in batches. When your batch hits the check printer out it will go. It will be in your mailbox soon, imo. |

I think they are doing this to the low income families. Quoting: The Alchemist 455833I got the same letter - Got it last week and it says my refund will be $900 ($600 for me + 1 child) and I will get it by June 20th. (which I didnt get it yet...grrr.) It doesn't say anything about being under review. However- its funny you mention the low income people getting ripped off. I think something is up here, and I was just talking to my mom about it this morning. She's only getting $900. $300 for her, and $300 each for 2 children. We both thought it was going to be $1200. Here's what a lot of people didn't know, which is stated on the letter i just got: "However, if the net income tax liability on your 2007 return is less than $300 and you had $3,000 or more in qualifying income, the amount of your stimulus is $300." So basically, anyone with a lower income, who got more taxes back than they paid in because of child tax credits, earned income credit etc, only get $300 not $600. That is such BS!!! Those are the people who need it the most!!! |

Anonymous Voice User ID: 455858 United States 06/21/2008 02:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I also received that letter, and it stated the check would come June 13th. Well, it did come, but a little later, and if it is not as much as some people think, then you should review what it was determined in the first place. I would hang onto that letter also, in case you do not receive your check, then that letter is what you need to make a claim. As for the review part, I have not looked at mine again, but since I just glanced at it, and the part saying to keep that letter, I do not know about that. I did receive the check though, and later found out that it would not be as much as I first thought. But that was the way it was at the beginning. People seem to be assuming wrongly sometimes, and it helps to double-check what you think that you are reading sometimes, or hearing, or thinking. A lot of people do that though, so that is nothing new either really. |

What is truely sad, is a group of people holding the money strings, promising STARVING citizens a certain amount, and then back tracking and saying you have to qualify. I have not heard of ONE PERSON recieving the amount promised! Any one out there who recieved exactly what was promised in Bush's speach? Anyone? |

For instance. my boyfriend only paid $625 in taxes last year, and made $6600. He claimed our other child, so he ended up getting back almost $3000 even though he only paid $625!! So it means he didnt pay ANY taxes, he got back more than he paid in. Because the tax liability is LESS than $300... his stimulus is only $300 NOT the $600 everyone thinks they are getting per person! That is why people are getting less than they thought! Low income people who have kids, usually get back MORE than they paid in taxes! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 455862 United States 06/21/2008 02:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I actually worked on the stimulus program. Lot of the returns were totally screwed up and maybe that is why they are under review? Some people filed twice; once for regular and once for stimulus. That will gum up the works too. |
