The majority of Americans can't control their spending. I've known many that never saved any money, claimed they didn't make enough to do so, yet they spent money on things like cable TV, cigarettes, booze, regularly dining out, shopped at the expensive stores, bought new cars, and more. And instead of buying only what they could afford and paying cash, they took out loans for their fancy new cars, and bought their clothing and home furnishings using credit cards. Dingbats.

I'm 66 years old now and have lived my entire life without credit cards. Raised a family on just my income and was a single father of 3 for 14 years too. The first of those 14 years was the most difficult, had a 4 year old that requires day care which prevented saving any money for Christmas or vacations that year. Told the kids that year I couldn't afford to spend more than $100 on each for Christmas and they understood and didn't complain. But the following year I took them to Disney World for Christmas to make up for the previous year. Took my father, their grandfather, with too.

But, we actually lived better than most. I took them on numerous mini vacations during the year. We'd fly to various cities for the weekend to attend thing they were interested in like comic book conventions, attend concerts like Michael Jackson. Sometimes I'd allow one of them to bring a friend along. They got to visit numerous cities to see various landmarks like the top of the World Trade center and the Sears tower. Went camping a lot too.

When you're not spending hundreds of dollars a month on interest payments, you can afford to live a better life. And you can save money for retirement, vacations, unexpected repairs bills, and even pay cash for a new home after you retire.

But whatever .. to each their own. Some people probably like spending $1k a month on interest payments for shit they bought and wore out 5 years ago. Funny to see on Amazon how much it would cost me if I wanted to finance a package of socks or whatever I was buying.

Same for Trump, Obama, Bush Jr + Sr, and Clinton
